The car will need a full sand, and spray when it's moving, and stopping under its own power. Won't be there for a while, but I'll be looking proper once it's there.

    Thank you.

I just ended up picking them up yesterday. Hopefully this Friday I'll have them on the car.

Also put the swings on last week.

And the rs4 sway bar will be installed the same day.

I was worried about the color looking terrible on it but...I'm honestly not mad about them. They're my only snow tires so if they did look bad, I'd still have to run them.

Found a tiny bit of motivation to get the rear on jack stands. Took the calipers, and the rest of the brake setup off. Lubed all the nuts, and bolts to the knuckles which will be taken off, blasted, and painted. They'll also get new F.A.G wheel bearings. I have new strut mounts on the way (thanks to Tyler V70R) which will be also blasted, and painted to prevent future rust from forming.

I'm currently on the fence about pulling the rear subframe to replace it with one that's less rusty, and press in solid bushings to match the front. I'll bend new brake lines, install B5 S4 calipers with Apikol adapters for B6/7 S4 rotors, and install the PSS9's.

I also pulled my S4 rear diff out from under the work bench to clean, paint, re-seal, and replace the fluid before installing with carrier (blasted, and painted) which includes new stern track density bushings, and an Apikol, or ECS (triggered) diff mount. Next is the 01E, which I plan to put JHM 1-2 shift collars in, along with a Stasis, or JHM 4:1 center diff. Then clean, new seals, and paint.

ALSO: Raceland Ultimo coilovers with less than 200 miles on them for sale. Too soft, and bouncy for me. I paid $400 I'll let them go for $300 local pick up
None of the shocks are blown or leaking, No corrosion.

Also sourced (again, thanks to tyler V70R) new spring collars for the Bilstein's since mine were completely seized. Even with heat, and months of PB Blaster'ing I couldn't get them free. So when i cut the old ones off, I'm back in business, and can put the refinished front subframe back in. With new control arms, refinished coilovers, and the refinished front knuckles.

    Thanks, Dave.

This cold weather makes it really hard to find the motivation to suit up, and wrench outside. I planned to pull the knuckles this saturday, although there's snow in the forcast, but it looks like it may be later on at night, so I may get some time in.

If I do it, I expect you to. Get the Silverbullet™ going.

If you're working outside, then I really have no excuse, lol. Yeah, the snow is forecast to hit me Saturday afternoon. On top of that, the first event for ice racing is this weekend... stuff like that always sneak up on me. le sigh.

Looking to put some time in this week after work, but have some things on the daily to look at first.

Once I have the knuckles/suspension off the car it's all indoor work. Blasting, painting, and pressing in new seals/bushings can all be done in the machine shop at my uncles house.

Well if you had quattro then you could go somewhere even with all the snow

No but really, I'm not familiar with Romania, but I like to go snowboard, snowmobile, etc and when it comes to cars I'm thankful I have a garage and there's ice racing

My Father's Ghia pan is in the garage, so there isn't much useable space...especially now that my S4 diff is laying in the middle of the floor in the garage now lol.

I also completely forgot about the AGN valve cover that needs work...I got some shit to do...Thanks a lot, Dave....

Well I meant there is no interesting place to go near me because they are open in summer :P Sure quattro would more fun. But I just hate winter since the 2 years in general :D Probably cause one year I skipped from dec to march in a hospital then next year I was sick :D

Quite funny weather recently tho 2 days ago it was sunny from like 10 - 3 pm , but at 5pm it was actually way colder -5.5C than the day before when it was -1C and snowed all day. It basically did not snow at all in December now its snowing everyday

But hey climate change doesnt exist

Honestly I might just park half of the car in the garage so i can work on the engine alteast lol.

Cause the garage is filled with crap, but the biggest thing is that I have lower block in there, that I really dont have any way of moving elsewhere and I dont have anywhere else to store it :D Maybe if I dissassemble it - flywheel, crank, oil pan, pistons, rods etc.

Started the day off with pulling the knuckles, coilovers, mounts, and axles out of the B5. Mid 20's, and overcast may I add. Up next is the subframe, and diff.

Then cut the old seized collars off the pss9's. Got them all cleaned up, and ready for clear. Sourced some new aftermarket collars again.....(with the help of Tyler again....)

Once i got the collars off I blasted all the rust and contamination from the shock bodies, and threads. Then I hit them with the wire wheel for a nice brushed finish. I'll be clearing, and putting a good amount of anti-seize on the threads, so they don't get all shitty again.

We had a little extra time since everything was going so smoothly all day, so we started working on the AGN valve cover. We're fabricating an extended -10 press fitting to clear the back of the head.

Yeah. I can't wait for the car to be a roller again though. Some things I had planned (which I knew we're going to bother me in the long run) have now finally come to bother me.so I'll be ordering better control arms all around. For the time being I'll be doing new wheel bearings, and refinishing the knuckles.

the wheel bearing failure on the rear of the b5 drives me crazy. I haven't had one besides an S4 that didn't need rears replaced.

was noticing the paint on your Santorin looks pretty damn good. is the top and hood that clean also? Out here it seems like the Santorins are prone to fading. I can never find one that doesn't have clear coat peeling.

No clear coat peeling or fading on mine (yet) but there are many dings, and scratches so it will be getting resprayed when the time comes.

None of the wheel bearings on the car had failed, I'm replacing them when it's easy. So they're all new instead of finding out in a couple months that I'll need to take them off, and replace them after the car was completed.
