This is sweet! How does the new engine impact weight distribution? These are nose heavy cars with the 4.2. More pics man. That thing is a beast!

the weight distribution isnt too far off of stock imo. the iron longblock 4.8 is around the same weight as the 4.2, but the th400 is much lighter than the 6spd tip. i figure its around the same weight. not 100% on that yet tho

Subscribed to this thread on LS1 Tech. Awesome! I am planning the same idea but using an LS4 as it is slightly smaller and mating it to the audi trans to keep AWD. No turbos for me though. At first Why did you end up keeping the audi ECU??

i didnt keep the audi ecu. its a gone-r. its actually the ecu out of my wife's 01 silverado (shhhhh!!).

The ls4 is a great option. the block itself is geometrically the same as the other lsx' but it has the 'corporate' fwd bellhousing bolt pattern. iirc, the crankshaft's snout is 10mm shorter and the flywheel mating surface is like 5 or 8mm shorter than a traditional ls. The ls4 accessories are much shorter as well. If you use the ls4, you shouldnt have an issue keeping the front end & hood intact

Sorry totally misread your thread on ls1tech about the ecu. I would be interested in having a chat with you about all the wiring to make everything work, as I am trying to lay most of that out before I take anything apart. In my research that is exactly what I found also about block/engine wise. I ended up with an entire Impala SS when the tranny blew.

From the video the engine sticks out much further than the stock Motor. What are your plans for a front end?
