    Issues filling up tank

Ok guys, so I really need help understanding some of the components down in the tank so I can figure out why my tank wont fill without the pump cutting off. I have to barely pull the trigger in order for it to keep going. If I pull too hard, It sounds like when you are filling a water bottle and it gets to the top. Then the pump shuts off.

Ive done much research on the matter and from what I've gathered it could be my charcoal canister or even vent valve at the top of the neck.

Ive rulled out the charcoal canister. I unhooked it from the tank venting to atmosphere and no give.

This all started after I had my tank open for a pump install, so I dont think it is coincidence. This hose with a door is what I suspect the most (see pic below), but I have no idea what it does. It looks like it is what channels the gas from the neck down into the tank, but I have no idea what components are down in the tank. So far I found a schematic of outside the tank and the evap system, which I will post below. My theory is that the hose below facilitates the fuel from the neck. I believe I have positioned this in a different position inadvertently (higher elevation in the end than in the middle) and it is creating a "P Trap" like effect like in plumbing. But I dont know how the tank purges fumes: whether that happens in the neck or in the tank or both. I am thinking that the position of the hose below is not allowing most of the fumes to enter the tank and it is just coming back up the neck and shutting off the pump nozzle.

    Update:
The fuel tank neck hose (pictured in the post below this post) was not seated properly and I believe it was causing some type of bottle neck. Repositioned it per CJs suggestion and the tank is now venting properly. Thanks everyone!

Bump. I've had the same issue since I put my 044 in. With a deleted evap system.

If you deleted the evap system, did you cap the line that comes out in the engine bay by the fuel lines? That should vent to atm

Courtesy of axnjxn for sending me some pics of the aforementioned door where it sits in the tank. According to his pics, it sits 2 o clock in relation to the fuel tank opening if 12 o clock is perpendicular to the trunk. I pushed mine way back more towards 1 o clock and more ontop of the tank. So I will adjust it to look more like AxnJaxn's and report back.

There should be a little bracket that holds that whole contraption in.. Mine fell out so it was dangling in the tank and I had to reroute those lines and reinstall whatever that flapper thing is. Hard to explain with text, and damn near impossible to get pics of it. but just keep messing with it and you will find the right orientation. If you have to force it, it's probably not right

interesting. Using the clock as reference, from your memory, where might I find that bracket? Thats probably what I need to do is reconnect the bracket and get this thing oriented correctly.

I guess that was misleading. It started after I installed the 044 and then tried deleting the evap system. Everything is gone. From the charcoal canister, leak detection pump, and to the n80. The vent off the tank is just VTA

Trb, you should check out the above lead. Not sure that it is my problem, but it's the only thing I touched. This happened a couple weeks after I installed my 044. I opened it back up to run a separate line running directly into the pump basket and that is when it started. I recall messing with that hose in the back with the door because my new line kept hitting it. Check yours and see how it compares to the pics I posted. Worth the try.

2 o'clock is about right.. Reach in and keep your hand up towards the top of the tank. Back where the return lines wrap around, there should be a 'C' shaped clip that grabs onto the grooves of the flapper by your thumb in the first pic. It would be pretty obvious as it just clips in to the wall of the fuel tank and sticks up..

If its not there, it probably fell into the bottom of the fuel tank (had that happen). Just find it, find the hole it clips into and route the hoses so theres no kinks or harsh bends, then install that flapper thing in the clip. I found it was easier to pull the flapper forward, insert the hose into the C clip, then push it back till the flapper secures into the clip.
Its hard to explain, so if you have any questions feel free to ask, and I'll try to answer best I can. Also, I'm not sure if fuel tank designs have changed over the years, but mine is an 01.5

    Fixed!!!!!

Went and filled the tank without the pump turning off once.

I popped that hose with the door on it back in to its spot per _CJ suggestion. Fixed it right up!
