Ok guys, so I really need help understanding some of the components down in the tank so I can figure out why my tank wont fill without the pump cutting off. I have to barely pull the trigger in order for it to keep going. If I pull too hard, It sounds like when you are filling a water bottle and it gets to the top. Then the pump shuts off.
Ive done much research on the matter and from what I've gathered it could be my charcoal canister or even vent valve at the top of the neck.
Ive rulled out the charcoal canister. I unhooked it from the tank venting to atmosphere and no give.
This all started after I had my tank open for a pump install, so I dont think it is coincidence. This hose with a door is what I suspect the most (see pic below), but I have no idea what it does. It looks like it is what channels the gas from the neck down into the tank, but I have no idea what components are down in the tank. So far I found a schematic of outside the tank and the evap system, which I will post below. My theory is that the hose below facilitates the fuel from the neck. I believe I have positioned this in a different position inadvertently (higher elevation in the end than in the middle) and it is creating a "P Trap" like effect like in plumbing. But I dont know how the tank purges fumes: whether that happens in the neck or in the tank or both. I am thinking that the position of the hose below is not allowing most of the fumes to enter the tank and it is just coming back up the neck and shutting off the pump nozzle.
Update:
The fuel tank neck hose (pictured in the post below this post) was not seated properly and I believe it was causing some type of bottle neck. Repositioned it per CJs suggestion and the tank is now venting properly. Thanks everyone!
