    Hypothetical: Golf R Engine Swap - B7

    So, I've been thinking about this for a while. Is there anything preventing someone from swapping a 2012-2013 Golf R FSI engine into a B7? These are technically the same footprint, from what I understand. Several of the parts are cross platform compatible, and the Golf R is a stout performer.

    I'd love to spark a conversation that might steer me one way or another. In all disclosure, I know someone with a built Golf R engine available from a wreck, and am contemplating the validity of a swap.

    The golf r engine is also an EA113 if im not mistaken. Should bolt right up.

    That would be a sweet swap! Just the fact that it can make 380 hp stage 2. But I know after 08 Audi changed all their ECUs and no longer use ME7. I imagine that would make the wiring terribly hard. There's been a few guys that have tried to swap B8 engines into the B7 but were never able to get the wiring and ECU correct.

    No need to swap ECU, as id only be using the built bottom end and head. All of the accessories would be reused fro my BWT. I also think I'd need to swap oil pan and components because of thanks between longitudinal and transverse engine formats.

    What other mods would you install with that engine upgrade?
    I would try to make use of the current ecu.
    Just an FYI
    I've riden in a mk6 R and a mk7 R both stage 2
    and they were night and day as far as power

    Well, my car is currently decently equipped. JHM 93 octane stage 2, FMIC, S3 injectors, apt HPFP, full turbo back, etc. The obvious next step if I were to buy and install said built engine would be to go BT and meth.
