    Goodbye S5 - totalled

So.... Long story short.... I was driving to work this morning around 9:00AM and going about 50mph and cars on other side also going 50mph.

Next thing you know the truck heading my way it's wheel just came right off rolling down at my car... I tried to swerve left and it clipped the passenger side of my car... Almost managed to miss it but check out the damage from the impact. Once the wheel hit my car it flew off in the air like as if it went on a ramp and over a fence into the bushes!

I'm assuming it's a total since airbags went out, surely frame damage, and the inside center console was pinned against my seat and stuff...

The truck did stop and police came did the report and everything. (company truck so hopefully I'm ok in terms of insurance and all)

I have some after market parts and I don't have receipts for everything... I do for the most recent stuff but like the APR stage2 tune + pulley and belt and carbonio intake I don't have receipt for anymore. What are my chances for that to be covered by the other guys insurance? I do have emails back and forth from the shop that I bought / installed it from (Drive Auto Works in NJ they are really awesome by the way).

Really sad about the car it was my baby... So now I'm already window shopping for some other cars... 2015 6MT M4? 2013ish 911 carrera 4s? Another S5? RS5? The infiniti G60S (the TT one)... Wish the B9 S5 was out already tho!!!

I know a great detail shop for that. They have great customer service, and you get free coffee while you're waiting.

In all seriousness that sucks. I personally don't like the Q60 interior (I assume you meant Q60)... it would really have to blow the other cars away in all-around performance for me to consider it. carrera 4s will always please. No interest in a used cayman GTS? M4 would be a great choice too, if you are fine with the interior.

That sucks man! Glad to hear you are OK though - could've been a hell of a lot worse honestly.

Wow, luckily it hit your passenger side (given you were alone) and not drivers or even head on. Best of luck with the next endeavor.

First and foremost, I'm glad you're okay. Cars can be replaced, human life cannot.

I would advise that you go to the doctor and get checked out. Lien the medical attention against the claim number that's being put against the other driver's insurance, that way you don't have to pay any bills, and you've documented potential injuries. Even if you feel okay right now, I still advise doing this, as it could be a big deal down the road. It could be months down the road before you discover you have a major medical issue caused by the accident, and if you didn't take any effort to document a concern then you'll have a hell of a time getting anyone to compensate you.

As far as the money goes to cover aftermarket parts, the other guy's insurance is likely going to attempt to settle with you. As always, they'll lowball the hell out of you, but you are under no obligation to take them up on their offer. If you don't like the amount they offer, turn them down. If they keep giving you crappy offers, reach out to your own insurance and ask for them to represent you. This usually comes at no cost to you, and they should be happy to get their own agents and lawyers involved. Don't settle until you feel rightfully compensated.

+1 on the medical advice. I'd be more inclined to stay w/Audi, served you very well in this accident (no "Apparent injuries") interiors always seem to be top notch, & I just LOVE the Quattro drive. Outperforms RWD IMHO in wet/rain & def. snow. By that measure though the P car is very tempting but IDK much ~ the cost difference B/W them. 1st world problem. Good luck & keep us posted. Where did this happen? Grew up in S. Jersey, just curious.

Glad you're OK. The car will be totaled and they are responsible to cover for anything on the car that you can produce receipts for. Like someone else mentioned, they will low ball you on the value of the car. And definitely get yourself checked out medically. A small twinge in your back or neck today could become serious pain issues in the future.

Glad you are okay man. Definitely could have been worse. But looking at your accident, the car did its job and protected you. The car will most likely be totaled. As far as your aftermarket parts, unless you told your insurance company that those specific parts were installed, they will not be covered. Your insurance company covers you and your vehicle as-is from the factory. They do not cover anything added after the fact unless you let them know. I learned this when I had a minor fender bender in my S5 and I asked my insurance to replace the 1/4 amount of 3M film I had applied to the hood. Good luck! And remember, contact your insurance company and get them to handle everything. Do not contact the other party's insurance.

Sorry about the car man but glad you are OK. Safety first.

By the way what a coincidence. I also went to Drive auto works. Dion is a straight shooter and the mechanic there Ben seems like a good guy.

They did an apr stage 2 tune on my car and tinted the windows.

Jersey roads can be treacherous with the weird road designs and all the 18 wheelers. I'm sure Dion will get you a copy of your receipt if you ask him.

Another thing, if you are looking to recoup some money, I'm sure there are many people here who would gladly buy some parts from your car.
I would love to have an Rs5 grill as well as an upgraded exhaust.
