    OEM+ Suzuka RS5 ideas?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm slowly building my dream machine for the long haul. 2015 Suzuka Black Optics with 7k. I am in love with the OEM+ look of a clean and maintained car with careful attention paid to the "enhanced but not outlandish" style of modding. That leads me to a few questions:

Stance: I'd like to retain the comfort of the factory suspension yet be able to lower it about .5-1". What are my options? Just springs or do I go coilovers? Rear sway?

I'd like to space out the Black Rotors slightly. What would work with that .5-1" drop...10mm? Best one stop shop for spacers and lug bolts?

I love the RS5 euro bucket seats and can foresee a slight custom job getting done up in black leather with some carbon backs and red stitched hex pattern side bolsters and door cards. Thoughts or ideas?

Currently, the car sits in the garage ready to slumber for the Wisconsin winter. Plenty of time for some love!

What else should I consider? I'd love to hear ideas.

    Current mods:

    : Neidfaktor CF mirror covers
    : Euro VAGCOMed folding mirrors
    : 30% tint
: 3m clear wrap on front clip, lights and mirrors
    : Ecodes
: VAGCOM brighter DRL & retain DRL w/blinker
    : AWE non res DPs
: Akropovic Titanium valves exhaust w/CF tips
    : 034 aluminum trans mount
    : CR-15 brace (black anodized)
: LED interior lightsIMG_5398 by GermanBrew,

    OEM+ Suzuka RS5 ideas?

    +1!
I like everything you've done - sensible, logical and restrained. Love me a sleeper car!
Coilovers for best balance between comfort, drop adjustability and handling.
To complement the CR15, think about an Alu Kreuz (not sure I spelt that right) subframe brace to really lock down the front end.
The argument for sway bars goes back and forth between just doing the rear and doing front and rear. However, with the front subframe sorted top and bottom, I think you'd get the most benefit from just a rear bar. Do get the replacement machined drop links to go with it, though. The idea of putting a meaty 25mm bar on, and having it located by the OEM plastic(!) links gives me chills!
H&R spacers are the best, and they provide all the necessary bits. Not cheap, though. Actual spacing is as much down to personal preference as anything else, though the ET on the wheels you've got will play a part. A subtle push-out would be 10F/15R, though some go as high as 20/25. In all cases, that 5mm difference front to rear seems to work the best visually. One thing to be aware of is that widening the stance of the car will potentially increase both stress on, and wear of, things like bushes and bearings. The further out you go, the greater the stress and wear.
No opinion on the seats, I'm afraid. I'm so happy with the seats in mine, I wouldn't consider changing them.

And, elsewhere on Audizine, another Aussie has obligingly provided a nice set of shots of a great 10/15 set up (thank you, dejangcool). Have a look:

I agree with everything Julian wrote above, with a few suggestions:

Bilstein pss10 or b16 ride control. I initially had H&R streets on my RS5 which were good, but still bouncy and a little to loose for my taste. For my A4 I went with the PSS10 and wow what a difference! The ride is much stiffer and I can adjust the amount of stiffness. I combined this with the 034 rear sway bar and solid end links. I also do have the alu kreuz and Cr15. This combination is moe than enough to bring a smile to your face through every curve in the road.
As for spacers, I would consider going with the ECS aggressive fit kit which really helps set the rotors off. The problem there is you may get a tad bit of rubbing. The conservative kit was too weak IMO.

Contact Mops@supremepower who can get you sorted on all your parts

Thanks for the compliments and the advice guys. I'm thinking of 12.5mm ECS spacers and bolts in the front and 15mm in the rear. I believe these are ball seat????

I will entertain the F&R sways with upgraded end links as well as the Alu Kreuz brace from 034. Bilstein PSS10 would be nice so long as I can adjust height and firmness or know how they will feel.

Yes, but no, but kind of?

The Aggressive kit is 15mm FRONT and 10mm rear. I was going off of the look of the A5 TDI with 10mm FRONT and 15mm REAR. My error I realized. RS5 fenders are different as are the wheels ET. I'm pretty confident that these 12.5/15 will work one way or the other. They should be going on this weekend. I'll put up some pics regardless of how it looks. We'll learn together.

Until I see a supercharger that isn't $12k+ and wildly unreliable I will not be going that route. Air suspension is interesting but I need to drive an RS5 with it before I get on board.

I've found it droned before the awe but not much. After combining it with the awe it really droned, especially with the valves open and driving in low rpms while in D mode. Much less with the valves closed or driving it in higher rpms like S mode or manual. I lined dynamat in the battery compartment and under the floor of my trunk which really helped. I love the exotic tone the akra gives.

Turned out that 15mm front and 12.5mm rear looked the best. Cleaned up the hubs, matching black bolts and snapped on the lug covers. I believe there will be one more detail before winter's 4 month hibernation in the garage. 8k miles and zero snow/salt/grime. 2017 should see some custom CF backed Euro RS5 buckets!

Red Start/Stop button ordered from Alex @ Europrice on sale. Install was fairly straightforward in about an hour with the proper plastic trim tools. I could probably do it in 5 minutes the second time.

034 Rear Diff Carrier Inserts Installed in my driveway with an 18mm socket. They were harder to get in that I thought. I ultimately ended up using the bolt to pull it into place a little more with every turn.

Seemed to firm up the clunky rear end a bit.

If you want to lower it by a subtle amount and keep a better than OE ride quality then look no further than the Eibach Springs.

There's a thread on here where I compared the Eibachs and H&R springs, the Eibachs rode really well.

Thanks for the info and link! In the end, I'm 90% sure I'm going with Bilstein PSS10 coilovers. I've search and read just about everything and these seem to be the best bang-for-the-buck end-all-do-all option (for me at least)

You won't be disappointed with the Billys, I had the B16 IRC on a previous ride, such a great damper. Have you thought about the IRC option if you want a comfortable ride? You get the best of both worlds, comfort mode for cruising around and sport mode for more spirited driving or just auto mode to let it do the switching between the two.

There seems to be a screw in a terrible spot for a lowered car; in the wheel well, on top, by the fender. I assume it holds the wheel well fabric liner in place. I'm going static lower soon on 10.5 wide wheels with 285 tires. Simple question: do I pop these out and forget it or will the liner move? Any input is appreciated.

Pop them out and forget about it. Many of us did and never one issue or shift. Mine were out for nearly 4 years.
