Sold the RS5 due to mental illness

Had to sell my car yesterday, despite strong personal reluctance and trepidation, due to a sudden onset of overwhelming stress related anxiety. It started of with being unable to drive on the highway and it got progressively worse. Thinks are going better now but I couldn't have the car sitting in the garage for another year. Might consider the next gen RS5 when it comes around.

Take care of yourself, and remember with the right counseling and meds it can get better. I suffered from severe depression and anxiety about 10 years ago. I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. I saw a counselor and started taking Lexapro and life is good. It WILL get better!

I feel for ya, my girlfriend is going through the highway driving thing right now. It's hard for her to even go 10 miles from the house. She's fine when she's with me driving on the highway but she won't attempt it herself anymore and she used to drive on it all the time.

If you don't mind me asking what are you doing to help with the highway driving?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will also help tremendously in overcoming anxiety with certain activities like driving.

^ +1 - CBT is a great modality to address anxiety as it teachers you to realize the thoughts that inform you behaviors; realizing what thoughts lead to negative behaviors can help you address what at the core of the anxiety. That being said, there are countless ways to approach stress related anxiety disorders ranging from pharmacotherapy to holistic therapy; each modality has pros and cons of their own so it would be worth it to spend some time doing some research to see which therapy might suit your needs best; just cause Prozac has helped millions of people, it doesn't mean its the right therapy for you.

I always encourage mindfulness exercises as well as exercises that put emphasis on body awareness (which is a present, tangible thing) - this could as simple as sitting on a park bench eating an apple and just being present in your body - and not in your headspace.

Cars literally come and go, but your well being should not.
