2.8 manual swap

Just a random thought if it is possible or not, I have a 2.8 30v v6 and I was wondering if I could do any type of manual swap or if an s4 trans would fit, I heard that the crank shafts don't match I'm wondering if theyes anything I can do

I'm pretty sure there is a swap for it and someone probably documented it and if you are going to do it I would suggest going through those threads and reading everything

Might as well 4.2 swap it while you're at it.

The cranks are identical from what I remember, might be wrong. You would need the entire swap kit or a parts car. Parts car would probably make more sense.

The only difference in cranks is that the autos have a bushing to hold the torque converter. Remove that and you're good for manual

It's an easy enough swap, would make your car 100x more fun, it's cheap enough, and not THAT much more labor than you're already going to be doing.

I've done the exact swap you're looking for, its literally super easy. follow bikestai's guide or any 1.8 guide for that matter, just have to remove the bushing from the crank and you're good.

would you happen to know a part number or anything that could point me in the right direction on that bushing? and what you think would be the best option to put on for the swap

You need to drive the bushing out of the auto crank to run a manual trans, not add it. And a 5 speed swap would probably be cheaper and easier to source due to the fact that there are more A4s running around than S4s.

find something that is just smaller then the bushing like a wooden dowel, fill the bushing with grease and line up the dowel and tap it in with a hammer, it should push it out, also if you are doing a engine swap a 2.7 would be way better than 4.2, much more modding potential and fun with even a stage 1 on it. Look around an collect parts, the first time I did the swap with an 01e and 2.7 on my b6 I was able to source everything including the engine for about 1400 including timing belt kit.
