N75J vs N75H: The Final Debate

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone,

So I have been thinking about changing my stock N75 valve to either a J or H valve. I have done a ton of searching on the topic and have come up inconclusive with many opposing opinions. Some say you will blow up your engine with any non stock valve and others have completely opposing views which valve spikes less and is smoother. The only thing people seem to agree on is that there is a chance that the valve will throw you into limp mode either way. ECS sold the H valve as the 'race' valve a couple of years ago. Both adds 1-2 pounds of boost overall, depends on the car/tune obviously.

    So my question(s) are:

A: Is it safe? (AEB, APR 91 Octane program, stock injectors in my case)

B: Which one is better? (at least in my case)

Just run the oem one. If you wanted a higher boost tune shouldn't have gone Apr stage 1.

A few cars back came with a h valve. Car kept going into limp, gave that shit away and bought a oem valve ran tons better.

    I have a race version I'd sell for 150

I think it's different, as in, I don't think it's an "H" valve. I think a third party company made it, ECS is selling it for 275 because said third party company no longer makes it (just a theory).

It can throw you into limp mode for overboosting, but I ran that valve with a tune, never happened to me. I bet it would happen on a stock ecu though.

Interesting. That's one of the few things people agreed on is that the H valve is the same as the ECS one.

Yea it always seems to be a crapshoot with limp mode. Some cars/tunes like it, and some hate it. Wasn't fully committed to buying one or anything so ill wait for now on it for now. Wanted to try to clear the water's on a very murky topic. Seem's the trend died off as well since most of the posts about it are pre 2010 and it looks like you can't easily buy a J or H valve anyway.

For the same price, you could buy a stand-alone electronic boost controller. If you're having issues with your N75, just steal one off a car in a salvage yard.

DIfferent valves have different solenoid coils which results in different response time of the valve. So with the same duty cycle, the bleed through the valves will be different. Its a band-aid and such should be tuned for a stock valve to make it easiest.
