100% miss. Smoked 2 of their "stage 5" discs on a stock turbo, smoked 4 discs in a 1 year span, never launched my car either. They kept sending me free/extremely discounted parts is the only reason I still have their product. All the discs had "bad" rivets, some in the center, some on the outside of the friction area. Great customer service, but not a product i'd depend on.

Hell I used an ebay f1 clutch and it was actually pretty good. Not on an audi though.

I already have 228mm flywheel that I would like to use. I need a decent single mass clutch setup. What about clutchnet?

How come you're set on using your 228mm flywheel? There generally are much better options in the 240mm size, especially if you switch to a flywheel like the ECS RA4 (which opens you up to many S4 2.7T clutch options).

Crazy. My clutch took the abuse of my 2871r just fine.

That's actually good to hear. I've heard they had bad batches with bad rivets, but that could all be internet folklore as well.

I've pretty much always seen hit or miss when it comes to SouthBend, which could be attributed to bad batches, but considering the rumor has gone on for YEARS, what does that say about their QA consistency?

JHM flywheel and stock B7 RS4 has held up great to my gt3071r and 24+ psi. Picked it up new for under $650. Once you have the jhm flywheel, stock replacement clutch kit is under $250 or you could upgrade to jhm stage 3 or 4 disc.

The stock clutches are junk, I;ve had awful experience. The first time I tuned my first B5, the stock clutch slipped in 5th. Then the pressure plate blew into three pieces.

The avant I have I got for $1000 because the guy said the clutch was shot. I pulled the motor and it looked brand new. Put it back in and the clutch slipped. So, I figured the ECU had a tune on it Put a stock ECU in it and it quit slipping.

I wouldn't trust the stock clutch for a second.

Redline I am opposite of your expierence, my stock clutch has been date raped by me.my car has close to 150xxx miles and the factory clutch has seen a tune, k04 pc16, gt2871r, comp 5552 (trash), and now a gt3071r. I have wondered if it's factory but I would bet it is.

I have not clutch dumped and torque onset is more progressive with a bigger turbo so I would think it's easier on the engine.

Has anyone tried a single mass copper puck style clutch?I am wondering how harsh it's engagement is and if it's ok for daily driving?

My South bend is a single mass fw, 4 puck sprung disc. It's as stiff and heavy as our old farm grain truck, and engages pretty harshly. If I didn't have a gigantic turbo I'd get something a little more "street friendly".

Mike Hood swears by his full face discs. Contact him to see what kind of deal he can get you.
