I recently got a 2009 A4 2.0T and like it a lot but i was wondering what some people's thoughts on preformance upgrades go as far as quicker acceleration basically what will add the most hp to the car. This is my first audi so im new at this any opinions are appreciated!

You're gonna get told to search the forums, because there are literally hundreds of conversations around this exact topic.... so yeah a search would be a good idea. But just to throw a bone out there - retune/remap is the quickest, easiest and most common way of making it quicker. Search APR/REVO/GIAC

This should also help - http://lmgtfy.com/?q=b8+a4+performance+upgrades

    Hi Aveer,

Stage 1 tune at your closest dealer. (APR, Unitronic, GIAC etc)
As willski said, google, find a close dealer to you.

Before you do it, might I recommend reviewing this... Clicky Click

Be patient with the new guys, Audizine. Everyone starts somewhere

    GL OP, and have fun.

Make sure you upgrade the timing chain tensioner first before any other mods.

What is your budget OP? There is so much you can do, but budget can help determine your jump off point.

I would do handling mods first, I was in the same boat as you, bought my A5 quattro 2.0T two months ago, the best mods so far have been the Bilstein B8 shocks and H&R OE Springs with a Megan Racing 25.4mm rear sway bar. These mods completely change your driving experience. The car just feels much lighter and more nimble. No more understeer or body roll at all. A tune would give you the most bang for your buck power wise.

I have actually read a post that REVO is slightly better than APR, from a user who has experienced both.

hmmm, That's the first ive heard about upgrading Timing chain tensioner? Care to explain your comment?

usually its the Diverter valve + PCV valve that should be replaced prior to any performance mods for Audis

They're basically the same to be honest with you. It's all personal preference. Pepsi vs Coke

Tensioner is a widely known issue with the 2.0T in the B8's ranging from 09-10. They tend to go out around 100k but there are a lot of horror stories on this forum. Search it up

Best bang for buck for performance gains? Go strait to stage 2 (tune and HFC). Everything else offers minimal gains compared to that. I would do handling after that, namely Bilstein coils and 034 rear sway bar. My car feels like a go cart after those 2 mods.

well mines the 8.5 2012' .. still the TFSI CDNC 2.0T... which is the shitty infamous piston ring oil guzzling motor... but by the time of the first production facelift, they rectified the oil issue. I also noticed the Diverter valve was replaced by piston as stock.
Perhaps the tensioner was rectified also?

regarding the APR VS REVO, there's a lot of articles online. but from what I've read by a reviewer who tried both... Apparently, they're the same but sometimes, not so much the same.
This forum user claimed that he started with APR, it made big difference.. But when he drove his friends car (same model) he felt short changed with APR as the REVO felt noticeably more aggressive.
But then again, I dunno about you, but I wont be trying both so who am I to comment.

Revo is known to have more aggressive tunes. I remember last year there was a lot of debate on the s4 forums regarding whether the more aggressive Revo tune led to premature wear and that's why apr tune was more conservative, but I'm not sure what the conclusion was.
