    Torsen modification

So while I've got my gearbox apart does anyone know the correct way to modify my T2 to send more power to the rear? I found a website selling shims but the info doesn't seem to clear to me. Is there anywhere else I can obtain the parts?

No they won't sell the parts separate.

Ok so I spoke to one of the technical guys at Torsen and he informs me what we in fact have is a T1, not a T2. The T1 changed to a T3 in the B7 or something like that. The T2 was never fitted to an Audi.

Anyway, so we got talking and he said the teflon coated washers can be replaced with a hardened steel washer (4140) with a nickel coating, or a hardened bronze washer. The steel washer can also be heat treated/case hardened if you don't nickel plate. Mild steel must not be used as it could weld itself to the gears.
There needs to be a stack clearance of 5-10 thou between the gears/washers. So I guess check it before you disassemble and then you can spec the correct size washers.

This mod WILL change it from a 2:1 to a 4:1 torque bias. That's all there is to it. All this took a quick phone call and now the info is there for everyone to see. Have a nice day.

I'm looking into getting some made up. Won't be cheap though, might get a batch made and sell the rest. Will post an update when I know more.
