    Hi all,

I am pretty sure this has been asked so many times. Would you guys kindly help me to get the most out of my used car.
What are the recommended parts to replace aside from waterpump and timing belt, by the order of importance?

Really love my new Audi and would love to keep it as long as I can.

    Thank you so much!

Keep checking that cam follower every once in a while. If you haven't replaced the cam tensioner and chain, now would be a good time. Also would be good to change your air, fuel and cabin filter.

Simply put, replace everything lol. All fluids, and the normal maintenance items and filters. Suspension components tend to wear out around your mileage also.

Thanks AudiKilla, would you mind elaborate on this cam follower issue? I am a complete newbie here. How long do they last? and how much are those maintenance would cost just a ballpark estimate?

If it's a 2.0T, you need to check the cam follower for wear every once in a while. I would say check once a year. DIY for cam follower can be found at:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...IY-in-PDF-form

If the cam follower has a hole, it can damage your HPFP and camshaft.

For the cam chain tensioner, ECS sells a kit:
    https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4....0T/ES2718947/

The car sounds like a TDI if the tensioner is bad and you'll hear some noise from the back of the engine. DIY for the tensioner:

I replaced the tensioner and chain myself, just make sure you get the correct tools for the job.

Aluthman what is a quick list of these maintenance items and filters? so far no sign of tear other than once in awhile it cranks longer to start. Any idea what kind of symptoms that is?

Thank you, it is a 2.0T so far two things noticable. One is a creaking sound when turning, and the second is it would take long crank before start once in awhile. Are those a symptoms of a tear for a certain part?

my oil pump crapped out around 100k miles. if you do a search, quite a few people have had their oil pump fail at around the same mileage. when my engine hits 200k or so, i will replace the pump again. i'd also check the cam follower.

    seattle rocks!
