Anyone done a valvestem seal job without lifting the heads?

Hey guys, im getting ready to the timing chain components on my BHF, and was curious if anyone had any experience or tool recommendation on doing the valvestem seals without lifting the heads using the "rope" trick. I'd like to avoid lifting the heads as it would add an additional cost of new head gaskets and bolts (which is pricey). I have all new viton valvestem seals and would love to put them in. Once again, any info would be awesome, thanks guys.

I've heard of it being done using compressed air in the spark plug hole. Don't know if you could buy the fitting or have to make one from an old plug.

I have done it with the factory Audi tools that I own. Here is a link to where I described the process on Slow4's car before we realized that he had bent valves. http://bit.ly/2cIAvkw

By the way, I am local to you. Just south of the American Legion Bridge.

I thought about doing it...I can't imagine it being too fun but I guess since you can hold the rocker arms back with rubber bands it shouldn't be too bad

Jimmy your write up amazing, but that special tool may be a bit out of the price range for a home gamer who doesn't plan on doing it again. :)

I did my valve stem seals with that tool works very well if you get the hang of it. I also used the rope trick instead of air compressor
