Rookie performance Upgrades

Whats up guys i just bought a 2007 audi b7, so far i have installed a cheap short ram intake and a fuel pressure regulator and have not tuned the car yet. By the way, the SRI sounds amazing and makes the car go soon fast its insane lol i feel like a kid on christmas. Anyways, back to the point, what are the first upgrades i should do performance wise to my car. i love working on it, the intake was a breeze to install and I'm not a mechanic or anything like it. just looking for some easyish upgrades to the performance

First off...Welcome to the boards! Glad the intake gives you the go fast placebo effect. Unfortunately it adds an amazing 1-2hp at most. A tune would be your best upgrade that you'll actually feel. Aside that make sure you're preventative maintenance is all squared away otherwise you won't be able to enjoy any upgrade you throw at it.

Rear away with end links is a great bang for buck upgrade to handling. Either get an 034 or a used rs4 bar with upgraded end links and feel the difference.
My personal favourite easy and cheap upgrade was the Go fast bits DV+. With your intake I'm sure you'll enjoy the better boost response and sound

Another great thing to do early on is the mounts (snub, trans, rear diff, engine). They are relatively easy to change out (especially the snub) and give you a more direct feel

I agree with that has been said here. I would knockout all the maintance stuff before anything. You dont want to snap anything. So things like timing belt and such. Oil Change at 3k is a bit aggressive for fully synthetic oil in my opinion. I use royal purple oil so 3k would become quite pricey and pointless since its such a good oil, minimal breakdown and such. We are both on the same boat but i do have a tune. I have APR tune and when i first drove my car around it was on stock mode which was fun but nothing compared to my 93 octane stage one mode. Car is a lot faster and enjoyable. Its a night and day difference. My next upgrade is going to be a DV+ once i iron out some of the kinks the car has now.

Really? I thought it makes it more reliable on the boost. Meaning if there is any damage or what not. No need to change as often. Can you tell me what you mean?

Rev D is all you need... anything else is a waste of money because you're not actually gaining anything other than another sig addition.

It converts the updated revision D DV to the a diaphragm style like the first revision but they charge you a bunch of money to do it.

Thou shalt not utter such words on this forum lest you intend to rustle many jimmies and cause much butthurt and consternation. But yes, the only way it does anything meaningful is if there is something wrong with your current DV. I've heard rumors that the Rev D valves are leaky, but those are simply rumors, nobody has presented any evidence to confirm it.


OP, I'd love to know more about that upgraded FPR you have and how it works with an untuned car................
