Bought a 2002 S4 Sedan Tonight and it's throwing some codes, overall its a blast

It's throwing the codes 16805 17866 16815. I have a very limited budget to fix all of this right now, not eternally. Anyways I've searched some of the codes aand it appears to be the o2 sensors throwing the codes and it says you can flash the ecu to not make these codes come up is that correct? If so how do I flash my ecu to do that?

Yeah, oxygen sensors are reading that the cats aren't working efficiently. Also, your car is in limp mode (limited to 5-6 psi) due to a bad exhaust gas temperature sensor. EGTs can be coded out along with the rear o2s/catalyst efficiency, or used ones are cheap.

As far as tuning, you just need to purchase a Vag-Com cable ($10 eBay one will work fine) and download the Nefmoto flashing software, and then find someone to modify your file. Takes 10 minutes, or @FlyBoyS4 has a conservative stage 1 tune with EGT/o2s coded out available on his site --> http://www.myaudis4.com/tuning_image...2D_EGTD_CS.bin

That's really good to know it can all be coded out. I may have found an ecu with everything all coded out. Where can i buy a vag com and does vag com software work on windows 10? I cant get this laptop to boot xp other than virtually which is a trip. i cleared the codes even though I was told they would come back so its not in limp mode.

I just bought a vag com from amazon it will be here Friday. Hopefully I can do all of this myself. Does it actually tune the car to be quicker to?

I downloaded everything and I'm ready to flash my ecu but before I do will the file you posted work with an auto?

I think the file is for a manual but I have not downloaded it to check. A manual file will not work on an automatic. If you made an account on Nefmoto you can search for a 8D0907551L or Lbox file and XDF that will work and attempt to make all of the changes to it yourself by using the S4wiki here

The main thing to remember is to correct your check sums in the file or else you will brick your ecu and that will require boot mode flashing it using Galletto. PM me if you want help.

I actually have a nefmoto account but it really doesn't make a lot to sense to me since I am so new to this.

You most likely will not find a file like that. Have to get someone to modify the stock L box file for you.

For the EGT sensor, maybe he could just buy EGT deletes at http://forums.quattroworld.com/class...gs/43487.phtml, but maybe e-mail the seller to make sure that he is still making and selling them. I've bought a few pair from him - a pair for my S4, and later, a pair for my A6, and they worked great. On my A6, I just used the EGT delete for one sensor and left the other intact.

For the 16805 and 16815 codes, if they come back after resetting the codes, and if the car is running well, then maybe defoulers (CEL eliminators) spacers could be installed on the rear O2 sensors. - Jim

I overfilled my oil really bad then drained it and added the correct amount and I just took it for a drive and white smoke was coming from on the passenger side. When I overfilled my oil smoke was pouring out of the back.

I wish I would have read this before I just sent you the file and instructions on how to flash it. $100 is a very fair price for a file with code outs. You really need to watch how you talk to people. I try and help people out that need it and for you to make the comments that you do it's messed up.

He listed his car for sale (the one you just sent the tune for) and listed none of the things wrong with it, and stating it's been highly maintained it's whole life (lol). I linked this thread and stated he should note the cats and egt being bad. He then completely changes his listing to looking not selling and sends me a pm saying "be more jealous, please" like really lol. He then states "you need help, I hope you can afford it", this coming from a guy who states he can't afford egt boards and downpipes. Wtf

Wow.... $100 is nothing. You'd easily pay 200 per code out from anyone else. Not to mention you'd pay 6 times that getting those bad items replaced.

Not only did he do that but brad helps so many people out on this forum. He really does save us as a community tons of money.
