    4000 Rpm rev warning light?

    Hey guys and gals,

My buddy and his GF just purchased a B8 a4 to replace their B6 and my buddy told me yesterday that he received this warning symbol in the dash. The car is Quattro with tiptronic and he said that he had rev'd up to 6K and the light came on after. Is this something normal on these models or is there something wrong happening?

    Thanks for any input.

If he just got the car, he could take it back to the dealer and have them fix it. I see a lot of google results suggesting this is a failed oil pressure switch.

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw those results as well while searching google but I fell upon a lot of A6's and so on with the same issue but wasn't sure if it would be the same issue for the A4 2.0T. The problem is they bought the car off a private seller so they would have to have it diagnosed.

Was the car being revved while it was parked? I had a friend that revved my car in park for a few seconds and that exact warning came up. Didn't have to do with low oil pressure or anything.

The oil pressure switch(es) located on the oil filter housing do go bad occasionally. What year is his car?

So theres only one switch, brown color. You need a 24 deep mm socket to take it off, that or a 24mm wrench.

the CAEBs have a blue switch on the filter housing as well. I'd replace both just to be sure.
