I have a 2005 S4 with about 175K on it. I drove to the market and everything was fine. Went to come back and it barely started and had a rough idle (like it was ready to stall). I managed to drive it back home but had no power. It was like driving a low torque diesel truck. The RPMs would climb very slowly as did my MPH. An hour later, I went out to tinker with it, and it wouldn't start at all. A friend plugged in the scanner and it said bad bank 1 camshaft sensor and something like "low output" on bank 2. For $45 I threw a new camshaft sensor in bank 1 just to see. No change. Still won't start. Doesn't even fire at all. So I put a fuel pressure gauge in the line right before the T at the motor. First time I turned the key on and checked, it was at 15psi, then I turned it over and it went to 55psi (still not starting of course). Another time I went out (after the fuel pressure had dropped back down in the teens) I turned the key on and it went to 53 (with just the ignition on), then to 55 when I turned it over (no starting). I would love to trouble shoot this myself. Can anyone give me some more testing ideas? Or should I start replacing sensors in a certain order? Or should I give up and have a rollback take it to the dealership? I appreciate any help and any suggestions!!
Thanks in advance,
Jason
