Passing the DIY love to attach S5 badge to RS5 grille without gluing to grille

I've been trying to think of ways outside of gluing to the actual grille for a bit. This idea is so simple yet so effective, it's actually funny. I found it via the B8 S4 section the other day via a member & I'll link him. The front S badge is my favorite badge on most S/RS line cars. This badge also does a good job breaking up the all black RS5 grille so it's not just a large black opening.

I know some have luck with double sided tape. But with this method you don't even need to chop the rear of the badge up if you ever planned to return it to the stock grille. Just need to slightly file the slots.

    All you need is.....

5/8" coolant hose, and silicone! I used a hot glue gun since I'm out of silicone and impatient. Still not permanent and can be picked off in the future. The 5/8" tube fits nice and snug in the honeycomb of my USP RS5 grille. And fits snugly over the tab on the back of the badge.

Total cost $1.00, cheaper then double sided tape, no glue on the grill, no Velcro. And you can slide it in and out as you please or easily re-level it if you bump it while washing the car. Very simple, clean & sits flush.

Hopefully this helps someone out in the future. I'll snap a daytime pic tomorrow. My neighbors probably already think I'm a wack job out here taking pictures of the car with the flash at 1am .

Too late for me. Someone already stole my badge just a few days after I glued it to my RS grille.

Passing the DIY love to attach S5 badge to RS5 grille without gluing to grille

Here's a few updated pictures before I go wash the car. Not sure if I have it in the right opening but the beauty is I can move it all I want & I will later.

One pro tip. The more you file down those slots on the rear the more you can get the hose flush allowing the badge to be flush as it gets on the grille. Just look at Jeffs link and see how flush his is. I may quickly redo mine later, but as you can see its flush unless you want to be OCD picky like I am :/

But even with them filed down you still retain the tab if you ever wanted to return it to the stock grille. Hot glue worked great I re did mine once already and the glue peeled right off zero mess. It all stuck to the rubber and not the emblem .

I like the edition of the small S badge so it's just not a black hole, gives it just a little color punch.

Not sue if I should move it compared to where the OEM one sits. I kinda like where it's at. The one on the OEM on almost looks low, but the rings are places differently I think. Again with this method super easy to move it. I'll try different spots when I wash the car later.
