How do I know what fuel filter to buy? I see this one guide on youtube that shows 2 connectors on each side, but almost all I see online either have 2 on one side or 1 on each. Also there seem to be different sizes and prices range alot. I thought it would be easy to just search and find one that fits but how do i know wich one to pick?

Example: this or this or this?

    I have an Audi A4 Avant 1.8T 2002

a lot of parts are vin specific. call up an Audi dealer and give them your vin number and they will give you the part number for which fuel filter you need.

Oh so it has to be specific like that? Is there no way for me to look that up myself?

For the 1.8T engine, there is at least one VIN split for the fuel filter part number. I'm not sure which you need exactly, but for the 2002, going off of ECS Tuning's website, you would need part number 8E0201511J. You should verify before ordering. Another way would be to look under the car at the fuel filter to see what part number is on it, if there is still one there.

Thanks alot! I suppose this is what i need then, basically just googled the part number and it was one of the filter i had been looking at.

Also there seemed to be an identical part with number 8E0201511L. Read over here that it might have something to do whether you have FWD or AWD? Don't know if it actually matters but my car is FWD.

2002 was a pivotal year for the Audi A4. I know that in the States it transformed from the B5 to the B6 and the fuel delivery went from a return system with a FPR on the fuel rail to a returnless system with the FPR built into the fuel filter. The return system had a simple inline fuel filter with an in and out nipple. The returnless system requires four nipples. There is an in, out, return and vent port on the filter. I have seen instances where some of the applications outside of the US had some crossover applications that differentiated somewhat from the US versions.

If you can't get an answer with your VIN number simply take a look and see if your filter has two or four nipples attached. There should be no difference between the FWD and RWD versions of the fuel filter.

Allright I will see what the audi dealership says tomorrow. So by two/four nipples attached do you mean 1 or 2 on each side so the total is two or four?

Edit: Could I use a site like this?

    Correct.

But why not just look underneath the car and see?
