Is my price too high? (2010 Audi A5)

So according to KBB, NADA and my local market I was under the impression that my car was fairly priced for specs and mileage as well as condition.. However I haven't gotten much movement locally, here or on eBay.

It's a 2010 Audi A5
Manual
6 speed
Brown interior
Premium plus
55k miles
No issues
Listed at $19,000 or best offer.

I don't if I have been spoiled with previous car sales but every other car I have sold (gti, s4, a4 etc) all were sold with in 3 weeks and lots of interest. This car has only gotten a few hits and people offering 12-15,000.... Am I out of line asking for $19,000 especially when a dealer only offered me $15,000?


Would love some input from some guys who have purchased recently as I'm totally out of ideas and currently sitting on a car that I don't drive (as it never was a daily).









I am by no means in a "rush" or I would have taken the dealers offer at $15,000 to get me into the s5 , just wondering if I'm expecting too much or what.

First place I checked, they offered me $14,500 on the spot, but a local dealer offered be $15,200 if I purchased the s5 they had (was over priced) so I declined the offer.

Wow... How long ago was that offer? Maybe try a different location and try your luck again! I wouldn't take anything near 15 honestly if I were you.

One of the CT places and it was the closest one at a about 2hours away. This is was a few weeks ago, I wish there was another closer but the next one is over 2.5 hours and I'm not entirely sure if it's worth it.

My logic is should I take a huge hit now, or keep paying for a car that I don't drive all that much. Hopefully it's just a slow sale

Its kind of a sellers market right now. There are a lot of cars on the market, and although it seems like a great time to buy a shiny new car, most people are not in buying mode unless they're enthusiasts. 19 is a fair number. Id have actually listed at 20, because price psychology reads that lower than 19. You will sell it, but people like to buy audis from dealers too, Ive actually never seen a brand get returned to stock and traded like Audis do. Its crazy. Also has me torn because I would like to sell my car, but I never actively pursue it for this reason. I also really just want to sell it as is and not take anything off.. lol.

I just picked up a 2013 a5 premium plus non navi with 30k miles for 25k a month ago. Most were listed around there or higher when i was car shopping. Im in ga for what its worth. I was also looking at 2012s with similar mileage and they were a few grand cheaper

I don't think dealers see a worth in no navi plus manual. they lowball cause to them, that's not what their typical buyers are looking for. they have to see how much they could sell it out for and how long it would sit in the lot. if you expect a dealer to take it for 19k, then they would need to sell it for like 25k for them to make a profit. its just not happening

our cars need to be sold privately if you want to get anything decent out of it. I had lots of "interest" for my car, but none of them got a loan approved. banks just don't want to lend out 20k+ for a car that old. I just sucked it up and traded it in cause I wanted my damn r8

OP i'm in a similar boat as you.. i'm trying to get rid of my wife's 2011 A5 Premium Plus with 70k .. dealer offered her 16k .. she is not comfortable selling privately .. if that quote above from carmax was without buying from them i will take the 1 hr drive to East Haven and check them out for a quote

For what it's worth you can get a pre approval from auto trader to purchase your car for much more. Of course there's tons of contingencies but that is a cash offer from the dealers. Assuming you leave them nothing to low ball you with when you bring it in.

I've heard from several people here locally that Carmax has given them pretty much top dollar for their vehicles, and in most cases those people didn't also buy a car from them. I reached out to car max when I was selling the Subaru, and they gave me a lowball offer AND fucked up my tire going through a construction zone during their test drive, resulting in me having to replace all 4.

I have been trying to sell my 2010 A5 S-line 69K for the last (2) months. I continue to drop the price because i havent received a lot of interest. Its now down to 16K will probably take 15 just to get rid of it.

No Navigation really hurts you. It changes the interior a lot. Speaking of interior, brown seats are not ideal for a lot of people.

I would say, be a little more patient. The A5/S5/RS5 segments now are no longer considered rare. Back in the days, it was hard to get a hold of one. Now there always seem to be a surplus of these cars.

True. My S2000 offer was about 4k under blue book, and they said it would be going to auction as well.

East heaven car max was the place that gave me a lower quote then local dealers. I tried the autotrader think and got even lower offers then a local dealer.


I appreciate the input from everyone not really sure what I'll do, I guess it depends on if I find a suitable car for a dealer willing to work a deal. Searching for an s5 or s4 can't really decided z

How much do you guys think the dealer will give me for my CPO 2011 A5 premium plus? It has sat nav, back up camera, B&O, sport package with sport seats and paddle shifters, 19" y spoke with sport suspension, Sirius XM, and Bi-xenon headlights with LED DRL. Basically it's fully loaded except for the S Line package.

It has 50k miles. KBB says my max trade in is 22-23k.

The dealer I bought it from has a similar car in white on the lot for $25,700.

If I could get 22k for it I'd be happy.

Carmax is hit or miss most cases they hit it out of the park. I had a customer with a ML550 with duct tape holding up the front bumper we offered $16,500 for trade and Carmax gave him $22k. If customers don't like our trade in value I tell them to go to Carmax and I'll pick them up.

That's odd. I was looking at the new GTR the other day and my car is similar to yours 2011, prestige auto though, 48k, and they told me I could easily get 20 on it.

I think your price is right. Be patient

Thats Bullshit, A5's with 88k are on the dealer lots for $18k. :/

I personally feel that $23-24k is a reasonable trade in for our cars(loaded with sport seats, paddles or 6 MT, along with sat nav, B&O, and other goodies)

Bare bone basic cars yeah I'd say 21k max.
