    ST coilovers problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My buddy just got some st coilovers installed and were having trouble adjusting them. It seems we spin them up (because they're too low for his new wheels) and they look good when we drop the car down but we drive the car down the road and they go lower. We tried to adjust them up again and I had him push up and down on the car and they settled again. We only tried this with the rear as it was dark by then.

Will blown shocks lower the car? The coils only had "2500 miles" on them according to the guy he bought them from.

I'm just gonna have a moment of silence. ....... So the guy said only 2500 miles on them and he actually believed him? Those coils might even have 30 ,40 even 60k miles in them who knows.

Isn't the adjustment on the ST coils on top of the spring in the rear? So adjusting it up will bring the wheel closer to the car causing it to sit lower? When you set the car down after being on jack stands it sits about a 1/2" higher than when you drive it and they settle. If the adjustment screws are on top of the spring you definitely need to move them down if you want the car higher.

The ST springs are pretty soft in the rear and I have mine at almost max height and am at about 24.5" FTG.

I second Adam, rear ST springs are ridiculously soft. I upgraded to Hypercos which helped with the constant rubbing over the smalled of bumps. A blown dampner will no nec cause sagging, bouncy ride is a blown dampner.

I have no issues with rubbing and I've had a full ride before. Weird. But I agree it's still a soft ride

This. Hopefully they figured that part out.

That being said - I have my rears allllll the way down and still wish I was lower

So we figured out that the rear coilover adjuster is spinning on itself. Like when he goes to raise it up, the whole adjuster and collar spin. Do these have a max height peak? If we tried to keep adjusting to raise the car would we reach a point where it won't go anymore? Are the rear adjuster bolt and collar one piece or do they come apart?

We ended up wedging a pry bar between the spring and the adjuster to push it up into the body more.

Bottom dead center of perch there is a hole. You need to fit an Allen key in there an that will keep it from spinning on itself.

Yuuuup. Forget what size, but get a long extension and the right allen key. I had a feeling you weren't adjusting them at all.

10mm allen socket on a long extension works best up through the subframe hole.
