    Swapping air bag Cover

Ok as usual many have gloated on how easy the steering wheel swap is and until I got to the cover all was going great. My question is how do the cover's tabs release from the body of the bag?? There is a plate which stops the tabs from easily backing out. I saw on another forum someone cutting the tabs off but I would like to sell my old 4 spoke beige wheel with cover and not ruin it. Only spent 25 minutes before I just put it back together and took a break. Any help would be appreciated.

I was unaware that the covers can even be swapped, isn't that a safety hazard?

I've seen a post on it being done by cutting tabs from old cover on vw vortex. There are many sellers on ebay though selling used covers for our cars so there had to be a way to reuse them I imagine. Places like this [URL][http://www.airbag-covers.com/product/airbag-cover/URL] wouldn't do much business otherwise. If worse comes to worse I'll cut the tabs but the tabs on the new cover sure look to be very tight to go in.

I got it done, you can either bend the tabs to release the cover or unbolt the horn assembly with the three torx bolts. You will encounter the other end of the air bag harness. Just disconnect it and set it aside. You will be slowly pulling out the packed air bag so take care to keep it tightly bunched and slide on new cover.
