So with a name like this, does this mean the S5 is being discontinued? Or is this maybe just a name based on the fact that it will be a final edition of the B8.5 S5?

They better not discontinue the S5....

As slow to market as they're being with the B9 5 cars, they might as well. Many are going to forget they existed, and swap brands.

I also was waiting for the B9. But I am super impressed with the 2017 TTRS. Have you guys checked it out? I myself have been considering swapping brands as I feel Audi has let us fall too far behind in the horsepower bracket. Midrange caddys have what 450 horses now. Anyway I feel the new tt has a lot of the upside we like from our 5's, and its pretty damn fast stock. I think I'll have to bite.

The TTRS is probably the first TT I could see myself in without feeling like a female car. No offense to the many amazing TT's out there. Theres just something very effeminate about it.. The Club sport though......

Im with Mops on the heel dragging of the B9 5 platform. In many ways I get it, as it does detract from the 4 platform. However I also dont think that 4 buyers are gonna be distracted by a coupe. I know they fully intend to release a 5 so this isn't a "Final" 5, just a final 8.5. However they have done just about everything right to help the world forget one of the most beautiful chassis ever built, ever. Lets just pray the new S motor is all we hope it to be..

See a used TTRS in your future. More car for the $

    ----

The new A5 will be a huge improvement over the past as with the A4. However, I just can't see myself throwing $20k+ over 3 years for a lease for a ~30HP improvement. The TTRS would be a no brainer as the price will probably sit between the current S5 and a RS5.

100% jumping for the new TTRS. As soon as that thing hits US soil I'll be talking to my dealer. I've been waiting for this car to debut for years. Albeit, it turned out a little less aggressive in the back than I had hoped, I have no doubts it's going to be a great car.

I have ALWAYS loved those stock tri star or whatever they are code named my car came with stock in 19" flavor. I always felt they would look AWESOME in a 20"to retain a OEM+ look. The 19" version that come on the S5 look good, but at some angles they look a touch small sometimes. I looked into getting that type of wheel in a 20" in the optic color which i believe is from the S7 or S8. But they have a ET37 more for a 4 door compared to the stock 19"S5 wheel of ET32. I guess you could use spacers, i already have the flush spacer kit on my 19"s now with a 20mm in the rear now i believe.

There is a guy selling a pair over in the classifieds, but he has them on a S4. I think they are a little too big looking on the S4 body at 20", but would look good on the S4 in 19" I don't think i have ever seen the 20" one's OEM at least on a S5 or A5 in here.

Only differences between black optics and black optics plus are the 20s and brilliant black mirrors.

The the suspension is the exactly the same? Wouldn't the car sit a lot higher?

I wonder what size tires it will run, i assume a 275/30/20?

Yes, I believe so. Same overall diameter, so the car should sit at the same height.
    Tire size is 265/30/20.

Also, this is been an option for all of 2016 - it was available when I ordered April of last year.

Used r8 if you can swing the price/maintenance. The TTRS is all marketing and far inferior to what you think you're getting...take my word for it. I bit the bullet on a 2012 TTRS and it was nothing but a disappointment - starting with the fact that it's a fwd biased "awd" system. Nose heavy, under steering, etc. Haldex is crap. You can tune them to go fast, but they leave a lot to be desired when compared to a true driver's car.

To be fair, the mk2 TTRS was built on a VW platform that debuted back in 2006, where the revival of audi sport cars were still in its infancy starting with the r8. I also had a ttrs but wouldn't call my ttrs ownership a disappointment, but you can tell it has a lot of growing pains to go through. I've driven the mk3 tts and it's vastly improved on the understeer department (updated haldex of course) and the car seem to grow ten fold when it comes to engineering...can't imagine how much better the mk3 ttrs will be.

I've sold my rs5 last week in anticipation for the new ttrs. Even still, comparing between the new and the old, I had a lot more fun out of the old mk2 ttrs vs the rs5.

Maybe the fact that my TTRS needed a transmission replacement at 8,000 miles (NEVER launched, babied like no other car) influenced my opinion. Or maybe it was the loud/obnoxious axle-click on momentum shift that the dealer was never able to remedy after taking 4-5 stabs at it, the imbalance of the engine at around 900-1000rpm that made the car vibrate when starting to get moving in first gear (without burning clutch by revving it past that point), or simply the delaminating tail lights, were also influential factors. I get it, it's a 5 cylinder engine which is neither meant to rev high, nor to be perfectly balanced; but there are ways of balancing out an engine regardless of the number of cylinders. If Audi is going to slap an RS batch on something and sell it to me for an outrageous price because it's so superior to anything else on their lineup, then I expect more than what I just described. Hence, it's all marketing up to this point. I hope you're correct about your mkIII predictions.

OH snap! Those wheels are awesome! I have ALWAYS loved my tri star stock 19" wheels on my S5, i just felt at certain angles they looked smal at 19" & would be perfect in a 20" version.

Too bad i would have to pay full retail for those which i am sure is NOT cheap. A small 1" drop and some 15/20mm spacers to make the wheels flush & i would sport those wheels instead of going aftermarket!

    S5 Final edition

Is it me or does it seem like it's sitting higher? I read on the website they come with a lower profile tire compared to the 255/35 on the stock 19" Tri stars, so that should compensate some. They come with a 265/30/20 compared to a 255/35/19.

Here's mine without the H&R OE's. Keep in mind I have 15/20mm spacers on in this picture. Either way, those 20" fit the car WAY better IMO. Will look AWESOME with a drop and some spacers.

Increasing wheel size without lowering makes the car appear to sit higher.
