It went great, well wait. During the tear down, there are metal cooling pipes on the back of the cylinder heads. 2 5mm hex bolts. I stripped one of them so I had to use my sawsall to remove the pipe to remove the heads. I broke a stud on the bank 1 exhaust stud to the downpipe. Had to buy a exhaust manifold. Had to go the to the salvage yard to replace both items. That sunday I put her back together, filled her with fluid and started her up. She fired right up. I was so happy! Success, until I looked under the car. I had a coolant leak and it was coming from the back of the engine. First I thought it was the heater hoses. But it turned out to be the fricken metal coolant pipe that feeds the secondary water pump. The O ring!
I was so fucking pist, to fix it I had pull the intake, the cylinder head covers, timing belt, ect ect. All for a $3.00 o ring that was warped and old. I shoved the 2 pipes together and didn't think nothing of it. It didn't seal correctly. AGH!!!!!
LOL
I didn't get the heads checked. I took my straight edge and tried to push a 0.004 feeler gauge under it on both the heads and the block. Nada. Bentley says use a 0.010. I don't see how they could be warped since I didn't overheat the motor. I replaced the head gaskets and did the timing belt job and called it a day. So far so good been 2 weeks and my commute is 120 miles round trip. Hell my gas mpg went from 24 mpg to 26!
SUCCESS
