What did I do to my S4 today - E-code Headlight Swap!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I completed a headlight swap yesterday to E-Codes!

It turned out great, but now I have thrown a couple codes...

Front L+R side lamps out errors are on. My question is, was I supposed to swap out bulbs from OEM to my new e-codes? Or am I in need of a VAG-COM unit to disable the parking side lamps?

I am pretty new to VAG-COM and do not have a unit nor experience with it...maybe there are some members from the Chicagoland area to help a fellow noob out??? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Need vag com to disable and you'll be golden, or clear in this case.

    Ok where to start..

    1) Please tell me you didn't take your bumper off just to change the headlights. They literally pull right out. I swapped mine to ecodes about a month ago.

    2) When you say "was I supposed to swap out bulbs from OEM to my new e-codes?" Exactly what bulbs are you referring to? You did swap your ballasts and headlight bulbs over right?? Don't tell me you just installed an empty housing because thats really how it sounds right now.

    3) Coding out the amber light is simple. Just post in the regional thread for your area and I'm sure someone can help you. It will take all of 5 minutes to do.

I'm in Chicago and have VAC-COM. I installed e-codes back then and had to clear the codes for the amber sidemarkers.

You can also purchase carista to turn off the side markers. It's cheap and does a whole lot of other fun mods.

    1) only reason I took off the bumper was to realign my right side fender...I had a little fender bender accident and my bumper cracked and had some lose pieces...caused pressure on the fender and tweaked it a bit...also causing the headlight to crack just enough to cause inner water condensation...hence me getting new eco des.

    2) LOL, might be a noob but I have an understanding that I need headlight bulbs...what I was referring to is side bulbs...if I had forgotten or overlooked to somehow not check for those and not swap them...my encodes came with turning signal bulb, so all that was swapped was ballasts and main xenon bulb.

    3) seems like there is someone to give a helping hand in Chicagoland

Anyone in Chicagoland having a VAG-COM unit and has some knowledge on how to clear the code I can meet just about anywhere...(sounding like a desperate hooker right about now )

    Thanks DannyDeez
