    Please help -- what's a fair price for my 09 S5?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everyone, been lurking here for a while. Sorry I haven't posted much. I'm trying to sell my 09 S5 and I'm wondering if you guys can help me come up with a fair price. Here are the specs:

    • 2009 S5 with a little less than 47000 miles
    • 6 speed manual
    • Brilliant black exterior, Tuscan brown interior
    • AMI with USB and iPod cable
    • Technology package
      • Rear view camera
      • Adaptive headlights
      • Advanced key keyless start/stop
      • Audi side assist
    • Bang & Olufsen sound
    • Carbon Atlas inlays

KBB says the price should be something like the following:
    • Excellent Condition: $27600
    • Very Good Condition: $26000
    • Good Condition: $24500
    • Fair Condition: $23000

I guess the car is somewhere between "Excellent" and "Very Good"? There's some very small rock chips and minor blemishes on the hood but the paint otherwise shines like a mirror (thanks to Adam's polishes ):

Leather seats and interior are still in pretty good condition too I think:

There's a small scrape under the front passenger side fender. Not sure how much that'll affect the price?

Now, I'm a little lazy so I'm trying to sell the car with all the mods on the car and include all OE parts (springs, headlights, wheels and tail lights). Here's the list of modifications:
    • H&R OE springs
    • ecodes
    • Avant Garde M510 20x10 ET25 with Sumitomo HTRZ III 285/30ZR20 tires (about 8k miles). Rims are custom powder coated "Kingsport Grey".
    • Retrofit euro spec facelift LED tail lights

I understand I can't expect to get my money back for the mods and in some cases the mods might even hurt the price so I'm hoping you guys could give me a little feedback. I'd really like to sell the car as is and include the OE parts as extras for the buyer but if you guys think I'd be better off turning it back to stock and parting out then I guess I'll go that route.

Oh and I'm the 3rd or 4th owner of the car (can't remember exactly, I'll need to find the carfax), bought it CPO'd in 2012 if that matters.

    Thanks for your help!

You'll definitely net more cash by selling the mods and returning to stock (assuming low/no labor costs). Mods generally appeal to enthusiasts/those who know a good amount about the car. They typically don't add value (often hurt it) when being sold to the rest of the public.

Springs might be more trouble to remove than they're worth but your other mods could bring you many more dollars if sold separate from the car. Just think- any prospective buyer that's not an enthusiast won't fully appreciate ecodes, FL tails, and AG wheels. Plus they're all fairly simple to remove and they really don't add much additional value to the car as a whole.

    100% serious.

That said, pm me a price for the ecodes ;)

I payed about $24K for my 08. It has about 40k miles and I was the second owner. (Just for reference)
I also highly suggest parting out the mods and selling it stock. You will be much better off. Wheels are easy if you have the stock wheels still and ecodes too.

Dang only 47k, do you DD it? I have 74k on my 2010. But it's my only car right now, sold my S4. I think I'm average miles, some of you are way under which isn't a bad thing :)

Pretty interesting how KBB works or sometimes car value in general.. Mine which is a 2010 only a year newer, same damn car in my eyes. BUT has 75k, almost 30k more than yours. But i did KBB on mine and got these numbers below.

This is why i just drive my cars and not cars and not worry about keeping the miles super low anymore, i just take the damn S5 everywhere just about anymore. Of course take care of it as well as i do with all my cars new and old. But 75k is actually about average mileage for a 2010 year.

But to be honest as far as price, i think NADA is a little more accurate, for at least this car. That is what the dealer told me they used when i traded my Hummer H3 in for my S5. Helped me get about $2,000 more actually after i found this out since i was going off KBB originally for rough prices.

    2010 S5 75k miles

    Excellent $25,047
    Very Good $23,707
    Good $23,303

Try doing a NADA on your car and see what numbers you come up with. I bet its 1-2k more easily.

Look it up, i experimented with mine and added 10k-15k miles which only dropped the price a few hundred bucks oddly. This is why i drive mine often and just enjoy it. Of course a "enthusiast" will value a car differently compared to KBB.

This is the EXACT situation for the B5 S4 which KBB's for like $2-3k but fetches 5-7k fairly easy in good shape in stock form.

Now of course trading into a dealer is a whole new ballgame with tons more variables. But like i said i would be pretty stick with NADA, over KBB with a car like this, which is not just your typical Honda. But KBB will give you more the low end i would think if that's what you wanted to know. Car market is tricky, especially depending where you live sometimes.

Thanks for that Vanimal, I'm gonna check that out as well. No sense in having such a great car and not driving it.

According to my BKK Blackbook, the car is closer to ~$20K. The 2010 models actually had an updated MMI and Led Tails. Might be more desirable if I was a perspective buyer.
