Is this a trap?

Sitting around with the wife the other day and causally mentioned that I might do a few minor mods this summer (maybe a sway upgrade). Anyway, the wife immediately replies with "it's your car, do whatever makes you happy". Not sure if she just doesn't comprehend the potential cost of "whatever makes me happy" or if there is a trap here. (Keeping in mind that I had to buy her a loaded GL450 before I got my S5.) Not sure if I should be worried or not...

Needless to say, I'm very tempted to wander blindly ahead and PM Mops for some quotes...

Question is do I go AWE exhaust to CH-R's first? I do like the stock Ti rotors but I have yet to see anyone with a set of CH-R's here.

Any thoughts or suggestions for next mods? Probably want to spend no more than 3k this summer.

Also, if the wheels any thoughts as to color to go with a BB with BO. Was thinking something darker but not sure how it would come off on an already dark car.

I fell for the trap when I was buying my S5. When I told my wife that I was selling my STI and buying an S5 she said "It's your car, do what makes you happy." It came down to having a buyer for my STI, and then suddenly she's freaking out about me selling it. I sold it, and then the next morning when my buddy showed up to take me to Denver to finish the deal on the S5 she told me she was under the impression that I'd just be selling my car, and eventually I'd buy the S5. You know, because not having a car for myself makes a whole lot of sense.

It was 3 or more weeks before she even gave a glance to my new car. She was so mad about me buying it that she didn't even want to see it.

Trap or not, I think you should PM Mops and get the goods. It's easier to apologize than it is to ask for permission.

LOL...we got along great actually but he lost a cancer battle last year. I would never have wanted him pissed at me though...he was something like a 5th degree BB in 3 different martial arts...my only hope would have been outrunning him.

Unfortunately, he did teach my wife a couple of pretty brutal "incapacitating" moves. It's ok though...I know that I can outrun her.

Yeah...that's what is killing me. I'd probably swap my snows to the stock rotors and see what I could get for the reps that I picked up last year. Help offset some of the cost.

Always a trap. I usually purchase my cars and do my mods on the down low. The conversation usually plays out the same "it's your car, do what ever you want". When a new car shows up, I get questioned, "wait, what happened to your old car? I didn't think you were actually getting rid of it"

If you "have" to do anything in order to get anything done in your favor, then you're married to the wrong woman. Dump the trap and find another one. In a marriage, your happiness should be in her best interest and vice versa; therefore, without being unrealistic, no reasonable woman would get upset over not-over-the-top, moderate spending every now and then, on her husband's part. No, you probably won't. What you really need to budget for is a vacation and the mods, because you're going to need to take her out of town to some place exotic to get her to completely forget about the mods.

Just do it. It's always a trap anyway. My wife gets annoyed whenever I tell her about my upcoming mods - then I put them on the car and she loves it. I also needed her tiny hands to help install my Eventuri. I'd like to say it was a wonderful bonding experience but that hose clamp is the devil. After it was on she said it was very nice but that's a lot of money just to look pretty. When I told her it made the car faster and sound better she was like "oh that's cool then".

Anyway. It's important to love your wife, but don't forget to show your car some love as well. Your car will never get mad at you at least.

my gf lets me do whatever the heck I want, no strings attached. I honestly don't know why there would be.

me spending money on car = I need to save more, not buy her stuff so it can even out. if that's the case id go poor in no time, and she is for saving money.

we actually converse about what mods I should do. I asked her for opinions on wheels, aesthetics, heck shes the one that told me to get rs bumper over the deval cause she knows id b more happy with it ( plus it makes the most significant change )

she also hinted yesterday that I could get an r8 or aston next. lulz. maybe she is secretly ready to dump me
