Has anyone else watched this? Lots of [thumbs down]on the video, but after reading the comment section , I can see why. So much bias from guys that probably don't even drive electric cars. I recommend reading some of them just for some giggles.

Of course we're going to be a little biased on our opinion between the 2 cars also.

First off I like tesla cars, I think it's a step in the right direction and the design is pretty... no matter how fast a tesla can go 0-60 there is nothing exciting when you're doing it in a dead silence electric car! A main part of the driving experience is sight and sound.... no tesla will excite me like a v8 v10 v12 rumble.

    Yes, I watched it.

S7 "winning" the comparison overall wasn't surprising to me. That said, the Tesla remain a pretty compelling car...

Agree with Yoshi on the visceral appeal of a dino V8. Yea, I'm old school. Plus the hypocrisy of the carbon footprint from a Tesla charged by a coal fired electric plant is a bit ridonkulous.

Tireguy, your Sepang S7 is spectacular.

Interesting video. So here's the deal the Tesla Model S will spank the hell out of an S7 (or most cars for that matter) 0-60 mph, but it flat lines at about 30 mph so 0-90 most sporty cars pass it. When I went an test drove the Tesla before buying my rs7 it's really quite shocking 0-60 because of the instant torque. Think about it like jumping a couple gears and instantly being at 5000 rpm. However something kept nagging at me after about the 30 mph mark it didn't seem like it was accelerating any more. It wasn't until I read up on why the 2.8 0-60 cost so much more that it clicked. The ludicrous 2.8 second upgrade increases the power that can be output by the battery throughout the system, Elon said the connectors and system would melt without it.

Combine that with the lack of continuing acceleration above 30 mph (flat line of the power) and it becomes clear. At around that mark the system has reached the max energy it can out from the battery and the motors reach their max rpm and so you stop accelerating faster and your accelatoration flatlines. Still allowing you to beat even exotic sports cars 0-60 but you'll see in other videos at just over 60 all of the sports cars overtake and pass it because their big engines are just hitting their stride at 60 while the Tesla's already maxed out.

Why does this matter? In real life, not just 0-60, when you're at 45, 60, etc and pasing the Tesla us still going to be plenty quick but the sports car should be faster and more satisfying because it's big engine is already primed and ready, while the Tesla's engines are already near their max. 60-90 mph acceleration and above is really quite lack luster in the Tesla.

So in most of the other videos you see just the 0-60 and the Tesla winning, this video is a little more interesting because they take it around the track.

Pretty much agree with above statement, but keep in mind 2 different cars for 2 different purposes. Although I don't own a S7 I do have a S6 with pretty much twins in numbers, I like the Audi on certain days for it's feel and sound when I am in the mood, but I drive the Tesla more just because it's so relaxing that when I get out I'm not feeling like I used so much energy just being in it. I need to see a battle with the RS7 vs. P90D w/ ludicrous.
