Dashcam catches Audi Palo Alto service tech abusing the car and doing drugs

Saw this on vwvortex and thought id share. Supposedly the car is 2014 S4 with Miltek exhaust. Maybe one of the members on here? Sorry if repost, but didnt see it posted.

I guess we all secretly hope technicians are not going to joyride our car trying to convince ourselves that "at that price, they would never do that, right... RIGHT?" But at the end of the day Audi technicians are no different than Honda or Maserati technicians, they're all human. This must happen all the time.. that guy was just lucky to have a dashcam.

NOT trying to come to their defense, on the contrary: this is plain horrible service. I think we all learned a lesson today: a secret dashcam is mandatory.

I think secret might bring up legal issues depending on where you live. I'd just leave it in plain sight, hopefully it's enough of a deterrent but I wonder what you can say if they intentionally turned it off.

But yes, I think I'm going to get one for when other people have access to my car without me there...

+1 in some states it is illegal to record audio without permission.

And Audi has issued a notice to service teams to pull the power plug on all dash cams on cars in for service so its lucky he caught this at all.

I just had my s4 in for servicing last week, the tech didn't pull my power cord. Also no malicious activity occurred.

And this is why my dealer will never see me and my S4 again, unless it is for warranty work. Since their periodic service is not a requirement to keep the warranty in force, I'll do all of my own work as much as I can.

I think we all know this does happen but to actually see it and get it caught on camera....just wow! This is why I deal with a reputable indy shop. I trust them WAY more than any Audi dealer. If I ever take my car to an Audi dealer again I'll sit there ALL day and keep my eyes on my car.

Unfortunately Audi could care less. Dealers are privately owned. This happens in NY too, but I have let seen anyone Coke up. My car was taken for a very short joy ride. Others have had cars wrecked. It's a complete joke how manufacturers don't crack down. These are not one off occurrences. Happens everywhere all the time. Unfortunately it also happens regardless of the car you have. Every dealer has d-bags

He doesn't look like a tech to me... Looks like a detailer... Don't let one shithead ruin your outlook on all dealer technicians. Most dealer techs are responsible, upstanding, and highly skilled at what they do.

Interesting. My dealer pulled the power plug on my dash cam the last time I used them for service. Makes sense IMO. Is it even legal to film them?
