Question about the stock RS5 exhaust

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm curious as to how many pieces the stock exhaust comes in. If I were to remove it, is it one big piece, or several pieces? I'm asking so I can figure out how to store and move the exhaust around. I have seen one removed before but I'm not sure if the shop kept it all one piece or that's how it really is, both of which I thought were very odd. Thank in advance!

Mine sits in one giant piece in my garage. After the DPs to the tips is one piece unless you cut it up. You need a truck to haul it around.

    ^This.
I offered my sport exhaust out for free when I had the Akrapovic installed. Someone claimed it but couldn't transport it from the shop because it was "One giant piece". So they had to scrap it.

Well this sucks... I assume this applies for the B8 S5 4.2L as well? I planned on keeping my stock exhaust in case I ever traded the car in, although I've seen used S4/S5 on dealer lots with exhaust on them.

That's still a few dollars back in the pocket going towards the next adventure if you were to sell the exhaust before trading it in. Sounds like you need a damn Uhaul box truck to get it home lol!

But I guess it would fit in a regular 6 foot truck bed.

We used my uncles Silverado to get the exhaust I bought home which was also in one piece. Not sure how big the bed is on it but it fit really well.

You def need some storage space Lindsay... If I remember correctly, the stock exhaust only comes apart where the dp's clamp on. Think the rest is one big damn piece. Could be wrong though. Think most of the stock is welded together.

Vs. the AWE came in a few smaller pieces.

Question about the stock RS5 exhaust

Mines sitting in my garage if you need an actual measurement. But yeah everything you see from the clamps at the DPs to the tips is one piece.

I used an old milk truck to move mine. It had an crate V8 in it. Was so much fun. Not sure if it's available lol.

You could always just cut it. Any decent welder could put it back together again.

The exhaust can be cut in the straight sections after the nearly ninety degree bends after the mid muffler on the way to the rear mufflers. That's where AWE cut my S5 exhaust so I could take it home with me in the back of my S5. When re-installing, buy the band clamps to clamp the butted ends back together.

Thank you all so much for your help. I really do appreciate it. Right now it's sitting in my uncles garage since we borrowed his truck but I'm going to have to find somewhere to keep this thing, or cut it
