Someone just STOLE a full Brembo GT BBK

Well, maybe not really. But it sure seems that way.

So, if you've been reading any of my latest posts, you'd notice that I have some ants in my pants for a BBK.

Bought a full RS5 kit but a buddy mentioned that he may be putting his GT kit up for sale (he wants too much). Checked eBay this morning and watched a listing that was set to expire on Friday. $950 starting bid for a full kit. Pads, lines, and rotors. Asked the seller some questions and left for work (I don't get internet access on my phone there). Did all this while using the eBay motors app.

Got home and received a message from the seller. He said he had to end the auction early because he found a problem with one rotor. Yeah, right. Someone scooped them up for a private deal so the guy wouldn't have to pay eBay fees - we've all done it before.

Flipped over to the normal eBay app and my my stomach started to ache. Apparently the listing had a starting bid at $950 or a buy it now at $1,300... The eBay motors app never even showed this. I would've sent the dude his lousy $1,300 while holding my breath. Moral of the story, don't ever use the eBay motors app.

Someone got a real lucky break here. A sincere congrats to you!!! This thread can't even begin to describe my jealousy.

If they pop up in the classifieds... Well, at least you now know what he paid.

This. Be careful buying used brake components. You're much better off with your new kit. At least you know its history.

You ended up getting a BBK? I asked John if you were thinking about one and he said he didn't think so. This was about two weeks ago...

I'll be happy with the RS kit I'm sure. I just got excited at the prospect of getting a GT kit on the cheap. Let's talk in the future though. I'm running out of mods to do so I'll probably have to start upgrading my upgrades to keep myself busy.

"When the SQ goes" ... ;) I've done about 4.5K so far. Waiting on Tommy to get my SB in haha. Thinking about it, I may end up doing closer to 20K. Not sure of the B9 5 timing anymore.

Killer deal could need a refin/rebuild, rings, hats and hardware look poo... Could easily need another $1,300. But you'd have a $4,595 kit in like new condition.

I was looking at this kit the other day. While I am going to put brembos on my S5, I'm not worried about the "BBK" side and am just going to go with the q5 brembos. I don't track so needing the cooling with bigger rotors and more bite isn't nessasry. [I have Motocross bikes for track fun] I do love the look of brembos and the ease of changing the pads. Not to mention with the Q5 Calipers I can pick what color I want since they are bare.

Ebay Motor Fees are not like regular Ebay fees. The commission is not high at all. For example, if a car is sold, the final value fee is a flat $50-60. I'm going to guess he got a higher offer privately and bailed on you.

No, that's only for selling a vehicle. Automotive parts are still charged a 10% final value fee, plus applicable PayPal fees.

The original listing said about 25k miles or so. They're without a doubt the same set. Small paint chip on the Brembo logo gives it away.

Call me an A-hole, but I'm pissed that he made a secret deal right under my feet. I wouldn't care if he was using these on his own car as I had planned. It's clear that he only bought them to flip them (jealous of the profit potential for sure).

Its sad how jealousy brings such nastiness out of people and others chime in without any real facts. If you or anyone else had any concerns or wanted to clarify anything you were more then welcome to send me a pm and I would've gladly answered your questions or anyone else's. Here are the facts:

Yes they seem to be the same brakes you posted from eBay. I didn't know they were on eBay otherwise trust me there's no way I would've posted them on here this soon. I actually saw these on local craigslist and you would be very happy to learn they were advertised for more then on eBay. I didn't steal them from under you since I had no idea you or anyone else had interest in them. Not that price is anyone's concern whether I bought them for $500 or $5000 but I will say the seller got more then he woulve got from ebay.

Also theres NOTHING wrong with the kit. They didnt "live at the bottom of the ocean for a decade" nor do they need any kind of a rebuilt. Ive had more bbk on more cars then most, so i can tell you they are in perfectly good shape.

As far as the milage that's what i was told. I will double check with the seller and report back weather is 18k or 20k. As far as my wording for being the best modification ive done i will take fault for that and removed that since. Ive had both the stoptech and brembo bbk on the S4 IN THE PAST and disliked the stoptechs but loved the brembo. Correct this exact bbk was never on my personal car.

All of these could've been clarified with a civilized pm like adults instead you purposely ruined my ad for no other reason then the fact you didnt buy them first. Now the ad has become a discussion of how much i paid instead of the actual brakes. You are also more then welcome to make me a fair offer for the kit if you're seriously interested. If not that's fine good luck to you finding what you're looking for.

This thread was started several weeks ago before anyone tried to re-sell them here. Just wanted to inform the community of what's around, and a great deal that I unfortunately missed out on because of a somewhat shady move by the guy that sold the set to you. You'll still turn a nice profit, but like Mops said, you're looking more in the $2,000-$2,300 range. Solid 50% - 75% return on your investment. Would've been nicer to hear a story about how someone in the market for a BBK found a great deal and installed them without thinking twice about flipping them. But I digress...

I'll admit, I may have gone too far on your for sale thread. Shooting for the moon on the price, and posting misleading information/not telling the full story is not great either.

Bummer that you waited so long to post them. I've since bought and installed a BBK that I'm quite happy with.

The guy I bought the brakes was anything but shady. He had them advertised locally as well as ebay and he got a better price from a local with no ebay/paypal fees, shipping or any hassle. I think anyone would've done the same thing.

I posted the brakes for $3000 which is what i noticed they usually sell and while i think its a very fair price, in the end it's an asking price and we both know NOBODY pays asking price.

I'm glad you found a kit that youre happy with.
