B8 S4 intake with hight flow.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just bought my B8.5 Sunday bone stock except 2 sets of rims/tires.

First purchase is going to be an intake. I noticed prices vary wildly. I've researched a few different brand on audizine.

Question is which one has the highest flow and lowest IAT? Has anybody done a comparison of all?

    Interested to hear!

Roc Euro is the one you want. Gives the best overall performance and with the Whine if you want that too.

I've got a CTS (275$ shipped) with less than 3k miles on it and it's in excellent shape plus the tube and shield have been heat wrapped. Roc Euro isn't all it's cracked up to be. Don't believe the hype on it plus it will take you 6 months to get it.

You saw mine. It's this one. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...S4-and-S5-3-0T

Bought mine during an intro pricing deal. IMO it flows well and I bought it for a balance of flow with quiet sound. Has a very slight whine to it inside if you drive with the radio off. Have no idea what it sounds like from the outside. I would imagine you can hear it a bit.

I have Torque Pro running on Android now using a BT OBDII adapter so if you want to monitor yours before and after we can. We can compare yours and mine too. I'll have time Monday or Tuesday.

This. Pick any intake and enjoy the sound. None of them are a true cold air system anyway since the filter still sits in the engine bay. They aren't going to give you any real noticeable power increase either.

Be careful with the info you spread. Stock i'll agree it isn't going to do anything for you but make that awesome whine

but, roc euro intake is good for a tenth ET and 1 mph in the 1/4 mile on a tuned car... A few years back there was a nice thread comparing all the major intakes for the platform and in 60-130 testing roc euro was the best again...

There's a reason most of the fastest guys run this intake. Any good open element intake will perform significantly better than the stock box and is a must have on stage 2 cars.

I suggest you and all others read post 15 and 19: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...intake-options

I already read it but the vendor from roc euro whom wrote post #15 works for them the saying of - go with mine its the best I wouldn't lie - is what every vendor would say lol. I am going to go with the Roc Euro though, pending sale on a used 1 right now (if it goes thru).

Then buy a BT OBD II and compare stock vs roc euro and then against his intake, just for funsies!

Get the CTS Turbo Intake or ECS Tuning one. Forget the Roc Euro, its overhyped and +1 with one of the respond above on the 6 months wait to receive it.

I just went through this same debate and ended up ordering an ECS tuning open filter intake. Roc Euro is somewhat local to me so I could've gone and picked one up but ECS service is on another level so I went with them, plus it's had great reviews thus far.

^ so true about the 6 months. Mine took about 5, not a fun waiting period. If I were to buy one today I would get the ecs intake or wait a few months until 034 releases theirs. Open filter with a heat shield is the way to go!

I saw their mock up, but didn't it still have the box and it didn't look like it flowed very well.

Yeah looks like a closed box but maybe they will do like ecs and have it as an option. Hopefully we will find out soon! I love all their products so far.

How can people say RocEuro isn't all it's cracked up to be and then recommend vendor (CTS, ECS) product (arguably improved) clones in the same post? Notice, no one is suggesting APR Carbonio (literally the first google hit when searching "expensive s4 intake" or that other ridiculous 1000$ intake (ARMA). Plus, the 1/4" mi thread is pretty damn good independent documentation of performance. Somewhere here there's a chart with IAT performance too, search and you'll probably find it. Point being, it makes an empirical, noticeable difference.

John@RocEuro has been getting hammered here, rightfully so, for his poor customer service. When you do get a hold of him, he's excellent in my experience. I would still recommend, but recognize the serious reservations.

These posts are nothing new to me as I was here for the start of them. I was always reading over on this side when I had my B8.5 S5 (picked up Sept 2012) because you guys were more active with the 3.0 engine. The 20whp that Tony claims is still nothing noticeable as far as I'm concerned. Even paired with an exhaust that claims to raise HP I still notice no difference. When I did stage 2 pulley/tune on the S5, THAT I noticed. If you can notice what a tenth and 1mph feels like then god bless you, but I can't.

As for intakes.. I stand by my statement. Pick one, any one, as long as it looks like the roc euro and enjoy it.

found AWE S-FLO intake for $180 on ESE tuning website. It's just the filter and tubing and whine only kicks in after 2500RPM or so. i personally think that's perfect. Roc Euro's whine exists at the entire RPM range from what i've seen so far. Another brand that seems to have a good kit is injen. look at youtube videos of them

What those people mean is that Roc Euro still gets constantly recommended even though there are several other intakes with near-identical designs, most of which are priced lower than the Roc Euro, that can be purchased without any of the customer service issues or shipping hassles like we hear about on a weekly basis with Roc.

tldr: people aren't dinging the product itself, they're just saying there is no reason to deal with the hassle when there are many other options on the market with near-identical designs.

I'll add to what LindW4ll stated... the other options (CTS, ECS) took the design a bit further. The heat shield is held into place with the OEM grommets where the RocEuro is sandwiched in place. Also CTS and ECS offer a bracket to hold the secondary air filter where RocEuro uses a zip tie. Functionally they are all the same and I am not knocking RocEuro, as it is a good product, but the others (CTS, ECS) are a bit more refined.

ROC would be my first choice (and was, but I too had issues obtaining one, and they are snatched up very quickly on the used market too ).

At any rate, opening up the intake on this car is the way to go using any method, whether it be an AWE-tuning, ECS, CTS, etc etc....

I run a modded air-box (drilled hole where the outline of the flapper would have been at in other markets, credited to AZT's hPa testings), filter, and a bigger TBB for subjective reasons, but if you want the best performing one, an open element is the way to go if your environmental conditions permit low IAT's.
