I would say true. I own a b8 and I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little bored with it.

just don't try to make the car something it's not. if you want something powerful, this is not the car.

It definitely makes a big difference. Since I know you're still looking, if you're trying to hold out, DEFINITELY get a manual because they feel far faster than the automatic cars. Also, don't drive any tuned cars. Lol.

You're welcome to take mine for a spin, though, since you'll probably give in eventually...

The stock B8.5 A4 is a nice DD and don't expect it to be faster than an S4. Is it boring? That is a question that only each individual can answer. I bought one for the main purpose of a DD. But second reason is the wide range of options to mod it. Will a mod A4 be faster than an S4? Maybe yes but the question is, will it be better and more dependable? Probably no. I am in the process of moding my less than a month old 2016 B8.5 A4. I want it to look nicer by lowering the ride using a coilover. Also on order is a Milltek quad pipe exhaust. That makes thing exciting for me.

Will I get bored? Maybe but I have to go back to my main reason why I bought this car in the first place. Then look at the second reason and check for the next mod. Chipping will be the last one after all mods have been exhausted, but most probably up to stage 1 using E85. Then on weekend I will recharge my self on using my other car. All is well again.

This more or less sums up what I plan with my car. Tuning will be last and only after warranty ends. Every other mod is more for aesthetics than anything else.

It definitely wakes the car up and makes it more fun. Buy the car you want (with a manual) and enjoy it stock for a while, doing whatever other aesthetic mods you want. They aren't slow stock, they just aren't super fast. If you get bored with it stock and don't mind potentially voiding the powertrain warranty, then tune it. You can cross that bridge when you get there.

I was in the same boat along the way, enjoyed it stock and took it step by step. I thoroughly enjoy my APR stage 2, especially with E85. I do admit though you get used to the power after awhile, but it is a very fun DD car and nothing more. So as long as you keep that in mind you will enjoy modding it. I am now on the fence between Ko4 and calling it a day or EFR. We shall see.

Enjoy the car stock for a while and then decide what you want to do with it. There are days I wish I tuned my car, but when I'm commuting to work, it doesn't really matter.

I had this exact same conversation with a buddy of mine...no names @SHIMMY. We both agree that as much as we love our Audi's it's nothing like our previous cars. We both owned M3s and to match the level of performance, you have to drop a serious amount of cash into the platform. If you want a truly fun, exhilarating car to drive, the B8/8.5 leaves you craving for more. Don't get me wrong, on e85, my AR is a little monster and it's fun to drive in the backroads. But the car is so damn quiet, shifts smooth, but doesn't have the violent force that my old e92M had, that it can be uninspiring to drive.

Screw everything everyone said here. Tune it and tune it now Stage 2. Gogogo. It looks pretty enough. You will think to yourself later, "why didn't i do this tune sooner?"

So true. Coming from an E92 M3 owner. But both cars are catered for different uses and demographics. Remember that you can get almost 2 A4's for an M3/4.
