    Angry Never use dip dissolver!

    Hello,

I had my car dipped red for 1 year. Past weekend I have removed my plastidip. It was no problem to remove the big parts (roof, doors etc) Only in the small gaps the plastidip was still there. I have ordered a bottle of dip dissolver from dipyourcar. I have masked of the rubbers of the doors to be sure. I put some dip dissolver on the cracks of my car and use a normal pressure washer with a spray gun to remove it. It easily came of the car. After I was finished I removed the water and mask and I saw something terrible. The dip dissolver has damaged my rubber stil!! :( I was crying, my expensive car has damage. I have a audi a4 with black optik. The rubber on the rear small window is on both sides damaged. On one side the top hole part on the other side small damage underneath the window. Also the rubber on the car self (front to back till the small window) has small damage. The damage is so deep I cant fix it with sandpaper or antything else.

I need to place 2 new back windows, roofrubber left & right, and new rubber on windscreen. Costs for parts 400 euro. Without the costs of replacing the 2 windows by a windowfix company.

I know and agree that most chemicals can be harsh on rubber but are you sure that your pressure washer didn't cause that damage?

Just a thought, but if you do a search through this forum you'll see that many members have vinyl wrapped those pieces. Might be a good cover up that will be less expensive than replacement.

I pressure wash my car all the time and have never had that issue. That really sucks.

I know. I think it is a combination of the dip dissolver and the pressure washer. I have a very light one, so not much psi. I already ordered the new rubbers for the windscreen, the rubber for the roof and 2 new back windows.

Isn't the dip dissolver laquer thinner? I did that to the rubber around my windows on my b7 with my pressure washer when I first bought it and didn't know how to change the psi. On that same car I put carbon fiber wrap on the trim that covered up everything and looked pretty sweet
