Its the same as removal and installation of the B6 console. Only difference being the harness that runs along the drivers side of the console. I havent heard of anyone having issues with that aside from me. There is a plastic guide for the harness that completely got in the way of the console sitting flush. I had to trim that part down in order for it to sit properly. After that all was good.

Ebrake removal and install is easy. I would suggest getting the complete ebrake assembly with covers and grip as they are different. Removal of the ebrake boot is still a mystery to me and I was able to swap the assemblies without removing the boot.

Indeed, the e brake boot is a huge mystery. I ended up cutting my old console to pieces in order to remove it. Lucky new console can be installed with e brake boot in place.

There's two tabs on the ebrake boot, one located driver side, the other located passenger side. You have to remove the rubber part to see it. You just need to pull them away from the ebrake shaft using a jeweleres flat head.

Edit : It might be different on a B6, this is for a B7

Btw I'll soon have a complete** B7 console for those close to Montreal. **With rear lock switch, ebrake handle, plastic ebrake boot, plastic lower ebrake trim, 12v under the arm rest with felt pad, both footwell 10mm caps and upper console trim (Above radio)

+1 on having to hack up the black plastic cover for the harness running under the B6 CC. You'll have to cut the top off to get the B7 CC to fit, but it's no big deal. Otherwise just really follow the guides linked above and you can't have any issue, its all super obvious once you start taking things apart. I just recommend having a flex head 8mm ratchet wrench with you, that was a big help for me.

I'm curious for which bolts did you require the flex extension?

Based on doing this few months ago my suggestion would be to put some tape over the ESP switch and card holder tray so when you are pulling stuff apart they don't get scratched up.

Not an extension. And it's for the 8mm up front, around the ashtray.

You don't have to hack the plastic up. I pulled mine without having to touch the plastic for the harness. In fact i just did this mod this past weekend and also switched to the BOSE system with bose harness routed in the B6 harness plastic and clipped back together. I just haven't gotten around to posting pics yet.

Interested in the photos. I didn't see any way the B7 console could fit without removing it.

Exactly. Unless we somehow bought the wrong B7 consoles.

Link to B7 center console and E-brake removal?

Just finished installing one in a customers B6 and needed to cut/trim the harness cover to allow the ebrake cover move freely.

There might be different B7 consoles. I.E.: 2005.5-2006 being different from 2007-2008

Using the B7 hand brake assembly made it easier but the B7 assembly I had required 3 bolts instead of two like the B6. I could'nt re-use the oem bolt (top left) from the B6 since it was'nt long enought. So I only put back 2 bolts (like it is on stock B6) untill I buy the proper bolt.

Edit: unfortunatly no photos since I had a window of 4 hours to do the job.

I don't see what the big mystery is. There's a great DIY in the tech-section or whatever. It Answers every question you need to know. I did it a couple weeks ago and it took my like an hour or so, including adapting the B6 ebrake.
Remove Headunit, HVAC controller, ashtray, armrest, rear ashtray, shifter trim, and all the 8mm screws for the console and top trimmy dealy. Disconnect harness. Lift rear end of console WAY up high and somehow over your ebrake handle. Trim the plastic harness holder next to the ebrake handle on the car, swap ebrake handle or cut the bolt holes out so it fits up through the hole in the B7 console and reinstall everything.

There's nothing about the swap that would make you need to go out and ask questions..if something doesn't fit, you see what's hitting and hack it apart/grind/melt it until it's out of the way. Then more beer and keep going.
