    B6 A8 wheels on the B8 A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I came across a very good deal on these wheels last night. I haven't picked them up. Wanted to ask a few opinions.

They're 19". I know the CB is smaller than the CB on the B8. If I bore it out to fit, will it have conflicting issues with the bolt holes?

two out of the four wheels have cracks. Asking price is $150 if I repair them and grab rubber I'll still be under budget for what it would cost me to buy new rims.

    Thoughts?

F this, if your that hard up for cash buy some Alzors from ECS that fit your car with no modification, why would you buy wheels for $150 then pay $200 to have them machined, then another $200 to have the cracks fixed then hope they balance and hold air?!!! Why? Alzors brand new start at $400/set.....

It isn't that I'm strapped for cash. These weigh 15lbs each, there are much heavier rims out there..

I picked them up today regardless, only one wheel has issues. The rest are fine and will get a nice buffing. They're ET35. I decided to fix them and then resell them..

And that looks hot, I haven't seen a B8 with them yet. The point of this was more about being an individual rather than being strapped for cash..

15lbs my friend. After I priced the tires, I was shocked at the difference in price from 18 to 19 and 19 to 20..

These will get cleaned up repaired properly, tested, and then I'll sell them off.

^ Very cool! I liked these on the B6 models... not sure how they'd look on a B8. Post up some pics if you decided to mount em.

I picked them up today and dropped the single wheel off for repair. I'll do a test fit on these next week to see how they'd look, mount them and drop it on wood blocks. I picked up some wheel cleaner and polish, so at some point I'll get to cleaning these thoroughly and see how they turn out.

That looks really nice. Reminds me of the Audi from the Transporter movie. I've always been a big fan of the "Stock+" look.

However I really don't believe they're anywhere near 15 lbs each. It's just honestly not possible. I've been researching lightweight wheels for a while now and even 19" aftermarket wheels billed as being lightweight racing-spec don't even come close to that, let alone stock Audi wheels from a heavy-ass A8. Even the lightest flow-formed wheels from OZ or BBS come in at around 19-20lbs each. The lightest wheels I've seen are the OZ Alleggerita HLTs which claim to have actually set a world record for being the lightest 17" wheels ever made and they weigh 14 lbs each. There is just no way a stock 19" A8 wheel weighs only a pound more than that.

Either way they're nice and I'd be really interested to see how they look on your car. Be sure to post lots of pics once you get them mounted up.

Did some research cause I was genuinely interested how an Audi wheel could be 15 pounds

24.5 lbs for the 8.5 x 19's; code C7G, offset 45mm; forged standard W12 wheel and optional A8 wheel from early on (the 12 spoke pieplates)
28.2 lbs for the 8.5 x 18's; code CG3, offset 45 mm; cast (no cost W12 option; the baseline 5 spokes on the A8); same wheel as black painted spare too

I think they could look good, but only if the car was lowered. It'd look like a weird monster truck with stock height

I'll admit I didn't weigh them or look into the weight lol.. They don't feel as if they weigh 25lbs that's for sure..

I am planning on grabbing the sport suspension or going for the OE H&R springs. In time, I have only owned my B8 for a week so far.

It's all good. Wheels without tires tend to feel lighter than they actually are. Are you still going to get the hubs bored and try them on the B8?

My wheel guy said I shouldn't have to bore the CB out. I could run centering rings. I haven't done much research on it, I'm kind of taking his word. Possibly confirm this as a yes or no for me? Lol.

I'll do a Google search, I'm also trying to find the stock exhuast diameter size. I'd like to purchase a borla muffler for now before getting custom piping done to guage the loudness. Borla mainly because I've built several MK2 VWs back in the day and they've always been such a good quality good sounding muffler.

I was going to say...I just paid TOP dollar for some Vorsteiner Flowforged wheels and they are going to be around 22 LB. I would be royally PISSED if i could get some old A8 rims that are 15LB haha. Good luck with the setup man!! Next time, just do a little bit more research!! (not trying to be mean at all)

What is the center bore of the A8 wheels? B8 A4s are 66.56... If it's smaller, you need it bored. If larger, you can run hub rings.

@lambda13 has a Borla exhaust on his car, there are videos in his build thread. It's got a good sound.

I've seen on eBay rings that can do 66 to 57. The B6 A8 wheels are 57 something I forget the decimal. From what I've read the B8 went up in CB sizing from previous generations.

    I'll check out his videos!

I would imagine that the rings can only make the bore smaller, not larger. I have a feeling you'll need to machine them out to fit the larger hub.

^ This. Can't increase bore size with rings, you can only decrease it.

I have a feeling that he hasn't measured this either, because it didn't feel like a 66.56 bore.

C'mon man, you sworn up and down this thread that you weighed those wheels at 15lbs each, when they're nearly double that. Then you say you saw hub centric rings that make your bore larger. Maybe you learned your lesson to measure, but I would hope you're certain prior to machining your wheels, buying rings, or making any more false claims. Participation here means doing your research first and spreading knowledge; not that you eyeballed it or thought incorrectly.

I like the wheels, but put out facts. I hope it works out for you.

That's probably why you found them to be more to your liking. You fit right in.

Srs though lighten up. As long as you don't have S4 badges on your A4 (you don't, do you?) you'll have fun here. Just don't get all pissy when people point out when you make mistakes. We've all been there, that's how we learn.
