    I'm picking up a rebuilt 01e this weekend but wanted to confirm since I want to make 100% sure after reading through various threads I had the correct assumption. The transmission I'm buying is from a 2000 S4, my car is 2001 so theoretically both both have the early style linkage. Is there anything else that is different between the early and late versions are the S4 trans besides the shift linkage?

    Just swap all your linkage from your car onto the new trans and youll be fine.

    Thanks Blake, I'm going to upgrade to the JHM solid linkage and and HD linkage at the same time. Already have the JHM short shifter.

    Make sure you use the correct shift shaft cover and/or bolt your linkage to the correct spot!

    The car has the minimum 1st to 2nd gear and rebuild, so that's good. But the 3rd gear synchro is weak, it grinds if I don't granny shift going from 2nd to 3rd over 5500 rpm unfortunately. Done that since I bought it.

    JVD, do you have a picture of the shaft cover?
