Question Anyone tried to match their HID headlights to DRL?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I found the hid and DRL has different color temperatures. the hids are a little warmer (yellowish) compare to the DRLs.
I am wondering if anyone has matched the color of their HID to DRL?
I looked up online and found that the DRL is 5500k, but people say they got 5500k hid bulbs and the color still didnt match.
Which brand of D3S bulbs did you choose? And which temperature? Do they match well?

You're going to find that it's a hit/miss with different manufactures due to non-standardization for color temperature. One manufacture's 5000K might be different from anther's. Another challenge is that the DRLs are LEDs and difficult to match against the HIDs which are gas-discharged.

For color reference, when I upgraded my halogen fogs to match the DRLs, I ended up going with 5000K and they matched the DRLs well. I think if you stay anywhere from 5000K-6000K, you should get a pretty close match.
