    FSI coil conversion

Looking at both the ecs tuning fsi kit and 034motorsport kit, which of the two in your guys opinion would be the better quality kit. I know there's only like a $40 difference between the two but I figured I'd get some input before making a purchase.

I went with the 034 kit and then got the coils from Ecs, been a year with them. I'm happy.

Id say ecs is better knowing it has the secondary ground wires

I got mine from a forum member. They work like they should and were cheaper. I look like a replica of the 034 though.

I was leaning towards their kit because if this, plus I'm not sure how 034 is now but I have their Bosch to hitachi maf harness and it's very brittle after 2-3 years of being installed

I went with the 034 kit from europaparts. I love the kit so far. This came out to be the cheapest option and shipping was free.

The one thing I like better about the ECS kit is that the coil adapter wires look to install more cleanly. My adapter wires from the 034 kit aren't tucked away or anything. Doesn't look super pretty, but I don't lose sleep over it. It works and that's all I really care about.

I think I would have been happier with the ecs wiring harness, but no complaints with the 034 one

Send it back, get an updated one. Mine was the same way falling apart & they sent me an updated one no charge. It's more like the 2.0 coil conversion instead of the og weak ass shrink wrap crap.

On the 2.0 conversion I've had slight misfires ever since I've had the kit. I'd probably try the Ecs kit next or go back to stock if I don't get rid of the car.

Yeah I'll prob play it safe and get the ecs kit. Thanks for letting me know about the maf harness. I might get in touch with them and see if they will swap it out

I used ie (intergrated engineering)coil conversion on my 1.8t passat. They are definitely better quality then 034. But im pretty sure they are the same function wise as 034. No extra ground wires

Has anyone used the RS6 coil conversion from 034? Or are the 2.0 coils the better option?

I am using the rs6 coil conversion. Better option if you ask me. Bolts up to the vc without adapters. Therefore, it seals out any moisture. No grounding issues either.

The coils themselves are a bit more expensive than the 2.0s, but from what I've heard the 2.0s go out all the time. Been running my setup for 6 months now. No complaints.

No. Not at all. You are just able to run larger plug gap before encountering spark blowout. Which aids in a more complete burn. I would never personally run over .03"

He was probably talking about using the correct dwell time/map for the coil pack which would involve remapping the ecu, I don't think it's absolutely necessary but it would definitely prolong the life of the coil pack, that is if using them on our cars shortens their life. I haven't seen anything definitive about it though..

I've been running the stock ngk with .028 gap. I went smaller due to being k04, but I am not certain this is the correct gap. I'm close to stock spec so as long as it's working fine...

Only reason I am considering fsi kit is because I get misfire under boost, usually between 3800-5000 revs. OEM coils have 86k miles on em and plugs are new so im figuring its just time to update

I've been running at kit from Issam @ iabedindustries.com for 3 or 4 years now with no problems. Love the upgrade.
