    gmdiluca's Silver Stage 3 Build

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys! Little background; So I've owned my S4 since March 2013. I've always dreamt of owning a B5 S4, why I have no idea. But anyways went on the hunt as soon as I needed a new car. Spent over a year looking for the perfect one. Finally found a very clean and stock S4 6spd with only 84 000 kms, score! Only downfall was its silver... But I learnt to love it haha.

Car has been stage 2 shortly after I purchased it and over the last year I've been accumulating stage 3 parts.
This will be a stock bottom end build on pump 94 FYI.

    Currently on the car:
    -APR tune
    -Stern mounts all around
    -KW V1s
    -SRM SMICs
    -SSAC Turbo back exhaust
    -034 RSB
    -18Z BBK

    Parts ready to install:
    -SRM RS6 K24 Turbos if I can't get a handle on OEM RS6
    -SRM inlets
    -630cc injectors
    -85mm hitachi MAF
    -Walbro 450 fuel pump
    -710N DVs
    -Silicone Lobster claws
    -3bar Map
    -AMD stage 3+ clutch
    -TTV flywheel
    -ARD bipipes
    -SSAC full 3" DPs
    -Zeitronix ZT-2
    -Notorious VR tune (Sascha)

    Other $$ suckers:
    -Oil cooler
    -new VCG and seals
    -300mm rear bbk
    -Aux water pump delete

    Contemplating:
    -Meth
    -JHM trio

I'll be doing most of the work myself, should be starting mid March depending on weather up here. Wish me luck!

Here's a few photos to spark interest.

Nice, almost my exact build! Since you're going to have the motor and tranny out, I would 100% recommend the JHM trio kit. Super easy to install with everything out and the parts are 100x more solid than the stock parts

Sweet, looks like our builds will be nearly identical lol! I will definitely be following your progress. If you haven't sold the K24's yet, I would recommend keeping them. You won't be disappointed.

Are you planning on installing rods I didn't see them on the list. K24s will bend your rods at high boost even on 91. Car looks great

Haha I told you it was the same. Ya I mean I still can't really decide on these or a smaller frame turbo. They are still up for sale, I have a couple weeks to decide.

No, stock rods. With a competent tune it is no issue

Torque on set bends rods. A good tuner can work around that. You ideally would need e85 with the k24s to bend a rod.

Looking into a Zeitronix ZT-2. Does anyone know if the 3ft O2 sensor wiring is long enough for our cars? or do we need 8ft?

Apparently the ZT3 doesn't log RPM... Which is necessary though.

Chose Sascha because he is really knowledgable about our cars. He's tuned some really quick cars around these parts. He's also local so no remote tuning which is a huge plus.

Made some progress tonight now that the weather is warm (10c lol). I spent a lot of time reorganizing the garage and setting up my workstation but eventually began to dig in. Removed the rad support and diassabled a lot of components In the engine bay. Here is how it sits and also a few snapshots of the new hardware :)

That's my plan as well, although I think the rubber sections of the wastegate lines will need to be replaced. Just curious which route you're taking.

    Will do!

What is everyone doing with the brake booster line that goes to the accordion hose? Do I cut a hole in my silicone hose?

you take it out and cap it. Or you take the check valve out of the accordian, put it into the gromet on the firewall, and run hose to the intake mani

Ok cool thanks. Where on the intake manifold would it connect? Have a picture for example?

Back side of the manifold. If you follow the line that goes to the accordian currently or the brake booster line, they T-together at a jet valve and clip on to a bung on the intake manifold.

No worries, just ordered the harness, if you can just send me some info like where you connected each part of the harness that would be great. Pictures would be a bonus haha. Thanks!

Stripped more of the engine, only a few things left to disconnect but I'm taking my time because I can't get a cherry picker until next weekend.

**Questions though, is it possible to disconnect the electrical wiring that runs along the passenger side firewall and support arm without cutting any of the ties downs? I'd like to put everything back the way it is.

    Some more pictures

depends on how careful you are :) i was able to get a small pick into most of the zipties and cable anchors and release them without snapping then off. Some take a little finagling, but its possible.

Does anyone know the Torque specs for the TTV Steel billet flywheel? Ive found the torque on the factory dual mass is 60nm +180 turn but not sure if the aftermarket flywheel would be different.

I don't recall having an issue with the driveshaft separating... But I'd imagine once it's unbolted you could just try pulling at the engine & trans assembly out and it'll probably break loose relatively easily. Or just hit it with a big rubber mallet.

I had that happen when I was removing one of the axles. It didn't want to separate from the transmission. Hitting it with a mallet and a lot of wiggling got it to finally come apart.

Update, motor is out. Unfortunately it got cold up here this week so I'm going to have to wait before I start cleaning everything. But I'll start taking off all the old hardware.

Anyone know the best way to clean out the spider hose? Water, compressed air? It's full of oil and grime.
