SCAMMED
So I recently got scammed on here for a set of JHM rs6 turbos from someone that messaged me on here and had me text them. They were texting me for days with speedy responses sending me videos of the turbos shaft and the down pipe he had the inlets and the hardware he was going to ship it with. He stated that he was part of a company called Gravity Payments and due to their competitive nature with pay pal through them he wasn't allowed to have one. So he asked me set up a coin base account which is similar to PayPal as far as my research was concerned... But after days of waiting I was never approved by the company to get my limit raised to send the money so I was convinced to send a check because he had been straight forward the whole time. So I sent 1650 fuckin dollars over and I'm trying to Figure out why CJ Housten or Cleon Hosten has changed his number I believe because when I text him he hasn't replied and it's disconnected when I call him...
So I'm convinced I was scammed and I'm not here looking for attention I'm seeking for some help maybe to figure if that his real name and if he's from Seattle Washington. The number shows up in Bellingham,MA though, also to figure if anyone else has had this happen and if his name really is CJ HOUSTEN. Also had a contract singed by both of with a 10k warranty because he was so sure they were built right. Signed by us both. If it really was him once again. So hateful comments please keep them for yourself I'm truly looking for some help and advice not attention.

So you bought something from someone on here that doesn't even have a username?
If you sent a check you can call your bank immediately and tell them to stop payment on the check.
But if it is cashed, you are most likely going to be SOL.

Yea, he seemed to be upfront about everything and was speedy about texting had all pics. I know when I add it all up I'm an idiot for doing it because he probably had it all setup and knew it would happen. But yea I'm thinking I am. It got cashed right around when he cut me off.

go to your local P.D. and ask to speak with someone there about it.

this is exactly why you never ever ever ever ever, did I say never, send payment in the form of an undisputable form. scam artists have gotten craftier as each method gets old. in this day and age, it's absolutely necessary to pay only via verified safe method, regardless of how kosher someone seems. credit card companies, banks, and institutions like PayPal have established safeguards for consumers with accounts built to protect consumers in cases just like this. if the money cant be retracted, just don't do the deal as either a buyer OR seller. it's the only way to protect yourself from strokes like the guy you dealt with.

that being said, I'm sorry for the financial loss man. that does suck. I hope somehow some way you are recouped.

OK, so I did a little investigation and we have found your scammer. A Google search of the phone number you posted leads to an account on VWVortex- username is "Cubicle". The same user also used (posted) a different phone number in another one of his posts. That number is removed for privacy, which is a Washington number.

I was able to trace that second number to a Facebook account. This is your scammer- Carter Leland of Washington state.

He has accounts on several enthusiast sites including Vortex, E46 Fanatics, etc... He also has a recently created Audizine account under the username "carterl96"and posted an ad for tunes here about a week ago. He has since edited his post but below is a cached version. If you take a look at his profile here, you'll notice he has since changed his location from "Bellingham, WA" to Montana. You can also see he uses the same removed for privacy in some of his Audizine posts, and has other for sale posts here as well.

Seriously dude, you never once felt like it was a scam? Never buy parts from a new user who claims he can only accept a persona check because he can't use PayPal because of a user agreement!

2 felonies I believe. 1 for theft over $500, another for Fraud.

I have zero experience with law other than when I was a kid myself and on the wrong side of it, so I can't be sure on that.

If you have all his info and proof that he scammed you, go to your local police station and file a case. And they will forward the info to his local PD and some boys in blue will be knocking on his doors soon.

I also believe it's a federal offense to commit fraud using the usps. I can't recall all of the details, but that alone would get him arrested. Check into it.

I went to the bank they traced it to a business' bank account and they have no idea how it's happening because it's a legit business but the higher up people are gonna check that on Monday. He's been talking to me through his real number saying he will get me the other 650 can't believe what he says at this point obviously. Filled a police report and they will be taking care of that. So nice to see a happy ending to this story, so often it is some fu*ker overseas behind these things and the money is gone forever.

I'm also glad to see that you have the law involved. It's more than just your money at this point, if he scammed you then he's most definitely scammed others, and the legal process will hopefully make those victims whole again. His dad was "his partner" WTF!!!???? Nice, a family of crooks. . . unreal.
