On H&R Sport Springs should I go to OE"s?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just got some 19" Rotors installed with H&R Sport springs but considering going to OE Sport springs. If I do go OE will the gap look too large on 19" wheels? I get no rubbing right now with 15/20 spacers as well.

Edit: Sorry I should have posted this in my build thread.

If you get no rubbing now why go to the OE's? What are you trying to fix by making the change unless you think it's just a tad too low.

At times I feel like it's a tad low but you're right if I have no issues there is no point.

I had OE on my S5. It wasn't low enough for me but it felt just like stock! The whole time I asked myself if I should have gone Sport or Coilovers.

Went Coilovers on my A5 and its the best mod you can do for your car. Highly recommend H&R Coilovers.

I've heard OE's do feel just like stock but the only problem is when I bought the car it had Sports from the get-go so I never felt stock although I image it's quite nice.

Nice setup! I wanted as close to stock feeling as possible, currently on stock springs but have 15/20mm spacers on with my OEM S5 Y-spokes. And i picked up a set of OE ones from a friend with like 300 miles on them, as he went coils because he likes "low". I haven't installed them yet, and still debating if i am going with a 20" RS5 OEM wheel or not. Although yours looks really good on the 19 rotors with it lowered.

I live in PA not the best roads, and my fiance will drive the car sometimes & i don't like really low. So OE was my only choice really. How does it ride with the sport ones? Curious... Or have you never ridden in a s5 with stock springs?

I prefer OE on the 4.2 over Sports. The rake is perfect....

Furthermore, I prefer the KW HAS most.

I am having mine installed soon, trying to find someone trust worthy but fair priced. I figured $250-$350 to get them installed. Luckily the springs only cost me $150 practically brand new

Save your money, it doesnt take a mechanic to install springs, just some tools, VCDS, a spring compressor and a couple beers on a saturday.

Though the stance looks great, I wonder how long before the struts go...that's usually my only reservation when changing OEM suspension geometry by installing only springs.

    Sports FTW! Mine below...

Only time I've ever really worried about the height was when it snows here and the nose tends to collect and hit most of the buildup if it's not plowed since it's lower than 90% of the vehicles on the road.

Looking good Jimmy. Do you have a FTG measurement on the OE's?
I know you and James were going to compare measurements, but I haven't seen anything posted.

I think I am going to an KW kit. I dont track my car and will never make adjustments afterwards. The bilstein kits were nice, but I would be 2600 dollars to do it. A little steep for someone that doesn't really race around.

Curious as to what specific Bilstein combo you picked and why and the cost.

I have on offer the bilstein b12 Kit. Sport shocks w/ eibach springs. The drop should be a tad higher than HR oe. Not a fan of coilivers.

I don't get any bouncing with these that some have reported with the H&R's.

Interesting, would the same rules apply with my 2010 4.2L S5? I'm ready to put H&R OE's on any day now.

I'll have to read that thread when I'm not on mobile.

The drop looks fantastic on either HR sports or OE sports.

I found the HR sports too low for city/winter conditions.

Performance-wise, I was not happy with either (OE sports on my S4).

I dont think they well matched with stock dampers compared to other products.

I switched from HR sports to Kw HAS last week. Huge improvement in performance. The car just hugs rather than oscillates over bumps. A little firmer but still very comfortable.

I'd prefer the OE sport springs. The sports are a bit too low for my tastes.
