    Hey guys, quick question.

My shifter is pretty sloppy, do you guys have any suggestions? Rebuild kit.....New shifter bushings? It just has alot of play while in gear, doesnt miss shifts or binds just a little annoying. If you guys could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks

You can rebuild it with upgraded bushings from JHM. Here is the link to the earlyer ones with solid short shifter. https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal...arly-p-64.html

I just bought the solid linkage and Delrin bushing. Should be in the car soon. I'll post a video when installed.

    OEM rebuild kit is expensive.
JHM kit is like $50 more and won't have the same wear issues.

Be forewarned, you will get a whine in the cabin from the delrin stabilizer bar bushing. Getting rid of that sloppy rubber U-joint makes one hell of a difference though.

I might do the whole kit depending on my money situation. I think thats rather expensive but we'll see when the time comes. If not the whole kit then i will be atleast rebuilding with the upgraded bushings. I just ordered the rest of my exhaust and the forge diverter valve. The flex piece on the downpipe rotted at one time and the previous owner hacked the down pipe about 5 inches from the cat flange and used universal flex. That rotted as well, sounds like beast. The car wasn't very well taken care of, however it runs like a clock. I have to buy a new front pass axle then the shifter is next in line. Thanks everyone for your help

Davdraco1 do you have a link to the one you bought?

    I have a stratmosphere setup from my 2001 A4 I don't need anymore as I went 01E.

If you're interested shoot me a message. Probably sell it for cheap. I can shoot a photo of it sometime soon.

Thanks Avant Nate, I was actually looking for a cheap one to start with. I personally couldn't find one on there but thanks for posting the link

I will most likely start with an ebay kit, then upgrade afterwards. I could use the extra money to help with the motor. Thanks once again

Can confirm. You get a lot of gear noise with the delrin bushing. A couple weeks ago I put a rubber washer between the delrin and transmission as well as on the other side where the metal washer is and it made a big difference. I highly recommend using some rubber there to cut down the noise.

Base, do you have a link to the rubber bushing you used? And did you loose any feel from it?

It's not a rubber bushing, it's just a rubber washer that I picked up at the hardware store for $1. I don't notice any downside, shifter is still plenty stiff. Remember, that bushing prevents any forward and backward movement of the shifter box, the rubber washers are on the sides, not the end. So they help reduce noise but don't change the firmness in the forward/back direction.

perfect. i think ill do that on my initial install. Stupid question, do know the bolt specs for two that come with the kit? i stripped one of them trying to snug up the linkage and JHM is kinda being a pain about it. Im not home to look at mine but want to buy a new bolt.

just let it be, not worth the money if you ask me unless you are really having issues shifting. Mine is super sloppy and i never miss a shift and can shift maybe a **** hair slower than the best mack daddy short throw kit out there.
