    Pistons were replaced, tech left oily/solvent rag on turbo heat shield, then proceeded on test drive.

    Not my fuck up or my car thankfully.

    1999 Millenia S - Sold, though it should've been crushed 'n cubed

    All things considered, I think he got away with a lot less damage than could have happened.

    I wouldn't be so sure. A new electrical harness, coil packs, PCV and he should be good to go. They would need to check all systems before releasing the car.

    That's a straightforward replace in kind for parts damaged. They wouldn't splice any of those wires.

    Negative, I had my wiring harness on my MAF sensor come unplugged and melt, shorted them out and fried my ECU. I still have voltage issues in random places after replacing the ECU (melting fog light housing on the driver's side when using halogen bulbs, switched to LED's and its gone, melting my driver's side-view mirror housing... ya its bizarre).

    Isn't there something about cars with fires? that would maybe make it salvage?? Like if a car is ever stolen its automatically salvage. I think it works like that for fire and floods. Your gonna take a major hit on the value because I think the fire is gonna go on the vehicle history report. I would definitely not take that car back without some serious compensation. At the very least I would want repairs done to make me whole. With compensation for lost value and if the shop wanted to keep my business they would compensate me for the hassle.

    Agreed. New to me car of exact options and miles, free routine service for a year or two, weekly car wash for free at the dealer, and the tech getting paid leave for a few days to get his bearings back.

    haha im so glad I never did that when i was a mechanic. i guess on the bright side it happened on their watch rather than the customer getting the car back and having that happen to them

    I haven't been to the dealer in close to 8 years. My last car was a '97 B5, so it was super old and not worth the money of a dealer's price to work on it. Find a good local indy shop if you can.
