Ordering AG 510 wheels, ET & spacer help on my S5 & I'm new!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello, ALL

I am new here, well to this forum. I have been a member for a bit with my B5 S4. I bought a 2010 Deep Sea Blue S5 back in August and have been enjoying it ever since as a DD! Great car in all weather and the fiance loves it as well as we both drive it. Great middle ground of solid grown up coupe/DD. AND A HELL of a lot less easier to upkeep compared to a b5 s4 I am looking to order some wheel's here soon. My car came with the 19" "Y-spoke" i believe they are called. I have DONE EXTENSIVE, EXTENSIVE research on the forum on deciding which wheels. While sticking within budget, as well as having money left over for a RS5 grille, & a AWE catback.

The wheels i decided to go with are the AG 510 in satin silver, possibly have them finished a brushed stainless. I KNOW, I KNOW, they are VERY popular at least on here. TWO REASONS i went with these as i considered the AG 590's as well.

    A. I had to get the fiances OK, and these are the ones both her and I agreed with. Can't argue as she's letting me buy them to begin with
    B. I love the 590's as well as they give the HRE "look" on a budget, BUT my friend who has a 2009 has the exact wheels.

I am OK with the 510's and frankly i am the only S5 i have even seen in my surrounding 50 mile radius EASILY. I did consider some RS5 20x9 OEM blades, but ehh i changed my mind.

Here's the deal my S5 came with "ECS" tuning spacers when i bought it from the dealership. Actually the only upgrade to the car other than some nice slotted and drilled rotors. I have no idea what size the spacers are, but they give a fairly nice flush look with the stock 19's compared to S5's i have seen on here without spacers. I attached some pics i had on my phone from summer.

What i am trying to accomplish is a 20x10 AG 510 wheel, they gives me the same flush look, with NO poke. Reading endlessly i have seen some people run the 35ET offset with 12-15mm spacers. Some sites like Tag motorsports say the 25ET gives you the flush look i assume without spacers? I am a total noob with ET, and want to make sure i get it correct. I will be running a 275/30/20 tire, no stretch here. Would i need spacers with either offset to achieve the flush look? Maybe i could possibly re-use the spacers i have and save some dough, obviously id have to measure them.

PS: For suspension i will be getting H&R OE springs at the same time.

Thanks guys! I uploading a few pics in of her in stock form with the spacers it currently has, nothing special just some pics i had on my phone from washing it. Can't wait until spring to have the new wheels on with a black RS5 grille. I also plan on having the silver window trim wrapped in black to clean that up a bit.

congrats and welcome. nice looking pre fl there!

those look like it might be 20mm all around. im not that good at eye balling, but it looks pretty similar to my old s5 setup. im sure others can confirm.

with 20x10 I think you want to remain in the mid 20's to maintain a flush look without spacers.

if you want to reuse your spacers for whatever reason, then add 20 to the ET ( assuming the spacers are 20mm ).

you will need new bolts should u choose not to run any spacers ( I would prob go that route )

im sure @mops@supremepower can tell you what offsets are available for the AG wheels. he also sells em btw !

    I am for the m590 vs the m510 :)

Fun upgrade project, Vanimal. Great color on your S5.

Maybe you've seen this tool already? It gives a decent A/B visualization of the rim & offset changes you intend to make.

Nice ride! Grille looks good to me. The spacers look similar to what I was running which was 15/20mm. I also added the HR OE springs, which looked great(purchased both from Mops). You probably won't end up reusing your spacers. I ended up using 5mm rear spacers on my 20s but they were 10.5. Car will look great with 20s and OE springs. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! And yes BK, its Deep Sea Blue Pearl, very nice looking out in the sun, pictures never do it justice. I will keep digging and see which size my spacers are. I am so surprised on how many compliments i get on the S5. I think you get A LOT of car for the money, and its another timeless design from Audi similar to that of my B5 S4. I was at first maybe eyeing up a 3.0T because of the whole "easy to tune" for extra power. But after having the V8 EVEN with stock exhaust the tone and feel of the V8 is something i have missed. Haven't had a V8 since the early 2000's as a 18 year old kid with my 5.0 Foxbody Mustangs. And i can only imagine after i get a catback. Being early 30's I'm not racing anyone anymore and i feel the 354 V8 is plenty for me for getting from point A-B and around town :)

I am a fan of the b8.5 headlights & front end for sure though. But still love the look of the b8 "LED tailights" over the b8.5 tail lights. Something a little unique compared to some other manufactures of cars that on on the road. I am MORE than happy with the B8 PFL for now, i traded in my 2007 Hummer H3 that served me well for 5 years. Got a GREAT deal on the 2010 S5, and a generous trade in amount for my H3. Maybe in two years ill upgrade to a RS5 . But again the S5 in V8 form is a VERY nice car.

I KNOW , i feel the same. If it wasn't for my friend having a 09 in the same color or maybe its a 08 i forget. He lives in NJ & i live in PA so its not like we bump into each other often. I originally thought his was "black". Come to find out AFTER i bought mine we have the same color, he was cool with it though haha.

we will get along just fine. pre fl v8 > fl 3.0 all day, err day.

ur friend can have the same wheels, its about who can pull it off better ;)

not sure what your budget is, but you can look into versteiner flow forged wheels. they look really good.

Congrats on the S5! I love DSB. For the spacers, I think you have 15/20, but its hard to tell for sure. Just throw a measure inside the wheel and see if you'd like to know 100%. For suspension, the OE's provide a great drop on the 4.2 cars.

For the AGs... you'll not be using your spacers. Here is 20x10 ET25 on 275/30

HOLY CRAP that is one clean S5! Is that a OEM "Black optic package"? Not sure if that was a option with the PFL. Or did you buy the grill and have the window trim done? Either way VERY NICE!!!

Cool i figured with the ET of 25 and after reading i would not need any spacers. But i did see they came in a ET of 35 as well in the 5x112 pattern and wanted to DOUBLE check. The 5mm in the rear looks REALLY good as well, perhaps a option ill go with.
I HAVE been also eyeing the 580's, but for some reason thought they may look better on the s4 4 door, no idea why lol. But you solved that dilemma with those pics . There is actually a set on AG 580 here for sale that are done in a brushed stainless finish. The 580 could be another option with the ET at 25. I would assume the stainless color would look good on the DSB color. Also like the combo of the satin silver with the DSB but i know the matte finish will be a pain in the ass to keep clean. The finish on the OEM 19's are VERY easy to keep clean, they have like a opti-coat finish.

Black out looks great on dark colored cars. highly recommend it

WOW that looks awesome very clean! I really like the look of the window trim being wrapped, will be doing it RIGHT away soon as spring hits. Forgot about the fog lights as well. I think the OEM stainless front lip adds a nice touch with the rest being black. And the offset of the chrome rings is nice, black rings would be too much.

What did it cost to wrap the trim? I assume not much $150-200? Do you guys think its worthwhile while im getting the trim done to have the rest of the roof wrapped in a gloss black on a "darker" color like DSB? Its clear in the sun that its a blue pearl and i think the illusion of a full translucent glass roof would be a nice touch. Along with protection from the sun, even though i wax the roof often. Or would it be a waste of money i could spend elsewhere. Since it wouldn't stand out as much as say on a white or red car.

It's an A5, and thanks! Loved that car! I have the OEM BO grille, OEM BO fog trims, wrapped window trims and satin black painted rear valence.

ET25 is about perfect, and I like 3-5mm rear spacer. Gives a nice look, and on OE, you'd be free of rub, so I'd shoot for that. Even a 3mm makes a nice difference. As for cleaning, I never found the matte windows to be difficult to clean. @NPuter would be a good one to talk to.... Nick how were your 510s to clean?

So you have for comparison, the AG with brushed stainless runs about $1,915.

Here are many pics of my A5. May give you some ideas...

I say huge no on the roof wrap. Let that DSB shine! Not a good contrast either IMO.

I paid $150 for the window trims. $200 should me max.

yup that's why I left the splitter alum. great contrast

I got a killer deal on my wrap, 80$ with life time warranty. usually places around here charge 250-300, so anything less than 250 is a great deal.

I agree, but i will surely be wrapping the window trim. And man the 580's look damn good on the S5/A5 body style which doesn't help the process . Ill have to put them side by side picture wise with the 510's. I guess the 510 would have the slight illusion the rim is bigger being the spokes are more "straight". Thanks for the pics! Very clean cars.

SUPER NICE, SQ5 too i LOVE those. If it wasn't for us saving for our first house to get into in about a year id have a SQ5 as well! They are awesome and don't see them everyday. Took some adjusting coming back to a car after i was in a Hummer H3 as a DD for the past 5 years.

I got a killer deal on my wrap, 80$ with life time warranty. usually places around here charge 250-300, so anything less than 250 is a great deal.

I agree, that will save me a few hundred to put towards a new grille for this spring. In between a OEM black optic S5 one, or a RS5 black one. Like them both in the same re guard. Leaning slightly towards the RS5 style since in PA we don't use front plates.

I personally would rather have the black optics oem s5 grille just because. BUT if you like them both equally, I would get the RS replica grille because its like more than 1/2 of the oem grille lol. and it looks good. I love mine.

there is another member here with a DSB and an RS grille. cant remember his username. jj something lol

NPuter good point. I would clean them often, and always use a wash mitt to get in between the spokes easily on my 19" oems. I could always pay the $499 extra and have them clear coated, or a light stainless color although I think satin silver on the deep sea blue would look clean.

With a second look with th 580's and the 510's top right, and my OCD kicking in. Which do you guys like? Hard to tell not seeing in person, but I would assume because the 510's are more "straight" spoked by illusion they would appear bigger than the 580? I don't want them to look too big obviously. Love the 590's but gotta skip them being my friend has them and the same color car haha.

LOL! Stared at that very same pic for hours. Knew I'd go with the 580's, but wasn't sure on the finish.

Either one, I'd go Stainless as Satin to me is just too bright.

Not DSB, but gives you an idea of stainless 580's with Alu/BO RS5 grille. Both the 510 and 580 look nice imo.

I'd go a bit darker as satin silver is almost what ya got on your factory rims.

Beautiful! Dang, now that I seen the 580's on the S5 body I pretty much prefer them more. They look a "little" more classy if that makes sense. Still love the 510 but they certainly look a bit more aggressive? Just my opinion, both look great and fit my budget.

And yes I do agree the extra $499 is probably worth it to get them maybe in a bit darker shade like a stainless. Don't want to go too dark and hide the contour of the rim since my paint color is dark. This is of course judging by pics.

    That's much guys!

SWEET thanks! I am still split between the grills. I do like the black optic, but its VERY expensive for the OEM S5 black opticwhich stinks. Isn't it like $60-$700 on ECS They both look good although the think the RS4 style looks a bit better on your black compared to the deep sea blue i have, just flows more.

I for SURE am going with the 580's now. The ones he has picture i assume are the "Dolphin Grey" ones and not the satin silver? They look so compared to his stock Y spokes. Which do you think would look better on the Deep sea blue, the dolphin grey or satin silver?

Here is a picture of my friends DSB S5 with Satin Silver 590's. Not sure if i should go with Satin silver or Dolphin Grey. I don't want them to be too dark and show the flow of the rims nicely etc.

The ones above are the exact wheel from the black RS5 above. Literally.

those are a bespoke 3 finish on the m580. I believe brushed gringio or whatever. not dolphin grey

I had the dolphin grey m550

I don't think u can go wrong with either grilles. whatever u get, black out the trim!!!

Oh ok, i like the Satin Silver to begin with like Mops said. Plus it saves me that bit extra to put it elsewhere. I clean my wheels religiously even in the winter. Ill even spray them down at the self wash during the week quickly just so it makes my job that much easier when i go to hand wash the car. I am used to that matte type finish in the inside part, i believe my Hummer H3 i had before had the same finish.

Whatever finish or clear coat that comes on the stock 19" Y spokes that comes on the car is UNREAL! So easy to clean, even the inside of the wheel looks brand new after washing.

This was the OEM satin finish stock wheels on my H3 DD with like a shiny finish on the face like the AG wheels are.

Ok ok, and yes i agree with the satin silver on the DSB. The pictures are just higher quality on the RS5 showing off the finish better. Makes sense. Thanks!

I WISH! I am secretly saving a side fund for maybe a S3, or CLS 45AMG once prices come down a bit on used ones in a year or so. So i can have a "economical 4cyl" turbo car with 400hp when tuned and still get 25mpg haha At least that's what i keep telling "myself"

That and looking to buy a new home in a year, which would be the adult thing to do haha.
