Awesome junkyard find. Rear B6 S4 calipers, carriers, and dust shields. This is where I'm currently at in my "build". I'm going to paint the calipers gloss black to match the front brakes.

Did a couple things today. Got the sway bar in and then immediately went for a test drive and I'm amazed with how nice the car handles now. Painted the hub of the rear rotors black and will hopefully get the rear brakes on next weekend.

    Finally an update!

So, I spent a lot of time reading about how terrible lowering the rear coils on a B7 is and man was that the truth. Because of that I kinda wasn't motivated to start putting on the S4 rear brakes since I knew with my new wheels I wanted my car to be lower so I might as well do it all at once. Just have some test fit pictures and my brakes to share, but I'll be adding some more pictures once I get them mounted.

Wheels are on. Yes, I bought the same wheel in 18x9.5 that I already had in 18x8.5. For those that want to know specs they are 18x9.5 ET33 with 225/40/18 tires. Next up in the plans is to get the STI front lip on and clear corner the headlights. Considering the difficulty factor though I might do something easier first since I have one last thing to do to my brakes before I can say they are finished.

Finished things up with my front brakes today. Cut up some vinyl brake decals I got off Amazon and put a coat of clear over them. Lowered the front a little more to make it match the rear, I think it's 24" FTG all around now.

I like your lateral thinking having the License plate to the Passenger side,I'm guessing you have a FMIC,I'm meshing my grille, but after seeing yours I could have just satin blacked the OEM,however ordered now ....

No front mount. Just don't like the license plate in the middle of the bumper and unfortunately it's a law to have a front plate or else I wouldn't have one at all.

So, I went to a car show over the weekend and saw some cars rocking this ez-lip thing and was intrigued and wanted to see if I could pull it off and well honestly I'm pretty impressed. I will admit it's not perfect but for $30 it beats having to cut/mold that STI front lip onto my car so I'm going to go with it for the summer.

Got a couple things done today. Found a set of heated front and rear B7 Recaros and also took the rain tray from the S4 I got the seats out of. Few weeks ago I put on some A8 trunk rings and trimmed the bottom of the license plate mount to clean things up.

I would paint the mirror caps black or same as the wheels. Maybe Joe mod the headlights too.

It's a little time consuming because the rear shocks are in the way of getting to one of the allen head bolts on the caliper. Once the shocks are out though there is lots of room and it's pretty simple.

you can order directly from the ez lip website or you can get them through amazon.

Which bracket are you using for your front license plate? I got one but the left side sticks out way too far from the bumper. I like how yours is almost flush against the bumper. Car looks amazing btw!

Some pictures I realized I never posted. Not that I had any reason to nothing has really changed. Bought a house over the summer so progress on my "build" is going to slow down while I work on my garage and house. I think I'll post pictures of my garage as I build that into a respectable place to park the B7. Until then thanks everyone for the comments and checking out my build.

PS apparently I like side shots and just of my driver's side

So progress is being made on my garage so that's cool, I'll post pictures when it's worthy. Nothing new for the A4 . The passat has developed a slow coolant leak, front wheel bearings hum on the freeway, and the control arms are shot. Which means unfortunately the A4 will be staying in its current form this summer.

Long overdue on an update. But nothing really to update on. VMR’s are gold now, I put on ebc red stuff pads on the front and seem to be a nice dust free pad as advertised.

In non b7 related news I picked up a new project. A 1.8t 5spd mk4 gti with 250k miles. This car will end up being the recipient of many parts from my silverstone parts car.

    Parts:
    AWP 1.8t and 5spd manual w/130k miles
    APR Ko4 turbo kit
    Tyrolsport smic
    Full exhaust
    H2 sport spindles
    Idf tubular control arms
    Bilstein coils
Other things like boost gauges, double din stereo, rear beam, and misc. interior bits.

I'm going to paint the calipers gloss black to match the front brakes. The recaros will probably take a little longer to be in my car. The silver alcantara is in pretty rough shape, but the leather is basically perfect. So the plan is to have the seats reupholstered in charcoal suede and keep the leather bolsters and obviously do the B7 airbag sensor swap at this time.

Were the S4 dust shields a must? Currently finishing up the process of piecing up my kit, but I feel like I’ve read too much conflicting information about whether the normal A4 ones can be trimmed or if I should just get the S4 ones.

I was able to reuse the stock A4 dust shields without trimming.

I suppose I could update this “build thread”. Along the lines of my previous posts, not much has changed. I worked on my gti all summer and made a car that has a unique purpose compared to the A4. Future plans are to get in some autocross time with the gti and eventually a track day. So photo dump time.

    Donor car

Engine and transmission with 130k out and lots of goodies.

    Ready for surgery.

Engine with 250k out and engine bay all cleaned up.

    Coming together.

    New Volx tuning headlights.

Paint corrected and a few hours of wet sanding on front bumper.

    On the road.

    Rick's B7 OEM + Build

Not much going on with this “build”. Here’s a list of what’s changed since my last post.

    -spun coils up an inch
    -235/40 continental extreme contact
    -ecs trunk spoiler
    -eBay led tails
    -ebc red front brake pads

Couple months ago I did a full paint correction. Wetsand with 3000 grit and then corrected with a Griot’s BOSS G21 Orbital. Also used their orange correcting pads and fast correcting cream. This was a huge improvement over my old buffer and the results were amazing even on already really good paint.

ECS carbon fiber spoiler painted “trim black” to match the rest of the car.

I have a nice collection of parts waiting to go on.
    -034 street density motor mounts
    -034 transmission mount
    -clear corner mod
-fcp euro timing belt kit and water pump

    Update #2
The gti has taken up a majority of my car modifying time (and money). I’m surprised I have little to no pictures of its current form. Here’s the list...

    -tt spindles
    -anniversary edition brakes f & r
    -ebc red brake pads
    -tyrolsport brake caliper bushings
    -Dieselgeek shifter bushing refresh
-Dieselgeek skid plate and side skirts
-seat cupra r rear beam bushings
    -Eurosport accessories x-brace
    -ecs aluminum coolant flanges
    -18x8 bbs rc 330 19~ lb wheel

So I’ve been shopping for new wheels for quite awhile now. As much as I like the VMR V810 and the concavity I wasn’t real happy with the fitment with 235/40’s and the amount of poke they had. They definitely looked better when it was lower and on 225/40’s.

    235/40 continental extreme contact

I wanted something lightweight, flush fender fitment, and 19’s. I ended up getting the 19x9 et40 neuspeed rse102 in hyperblack. The wheels weigh 20 pounds and have a slight amount of concave and with some small spacers (3mm front and 5mm rear) I was able to achieve my desired fitment.

Loving the new look! These wheels fit this tire size and ride height much better than the 18’s did.

Looks great, I'm a bit biased to the red though. #savetheredB7's
