Simplifying and cleaning up a engine bay?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have my 2000 s4 apart putting new cams in it and I was thinking about cleaning up the engine bay.

I've done some research and found the n75 and the n249 valves seem to be the most common things people delete. Is there anything else I can delete or bypass or anything to clean up the engine and make it a little more simple and manually controlled? It's a stage 3 ko4 car. Any pics of cleaned up bays or deleted of anything would be awesome!!

    Thanks in advance

You could shave your engine bay, like this.

    Not my car, btw.

I know you can delete your N249 and N80 which will clean up your fuel rails. I know a lot of people don't recommend deleting your N75 but its doable. On top of that you can run aftermarket fuel rails, re-route lines, etc.

You can do something like this

I didnt delete anything, just rerouted it under the intake to hide it.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Nice bay! Any chance you have a pic from before you put the intake manifold back on?

I'm in the same boat as my engine bay is a complete mess. But I think the place to start is deciding if you want the stuff like n75 and n249. I personally don't think getting rid of them is worth it. And why my bay looks like it does. But it would be easy to get them sensors behind the fake fire wall. I'm moving my battery to where the cd changer is and that is gonna net me room for a custom over flow tank and custom washer fluid tank. After market fuel rails to. As our audi used ours for hard lines. Other than that under the intake manifold looks like prime territory. Hope this helps

The Yellow and Green is HAWT!

I have to ask, because I can't get a straight answer. Not even from a German.

Why does the Euro crowd HATE "shaved" or "Deleted" engine bays?

When I got into cars, I started with JDM and imports. I suppose one would call me a Ricer back in the late 90's early 2000's. But if there is ONE thing that got me, every time, was a meticulously cleaned and organized engine bay.

But it's not just Japanese Imports - classic American cars do the same thing. You look at a Restomod that rolled out of the shop, ready to go, 10 minutes ago and you will find one of the most spectacular engine bays around.

Personally, I think just "covering it up with engine covers" is almost sacrilegious to people that have oil for blood.

In the euro groups, everyone talks about how fast their cars are. Well, why would you NOT want to show off the power plant that, in many cases, you built? To show people what 800HP looks like in an Audi? Because if you're running 10sec 1/4 mile, I want to see what made that all possible!

Lastly, a clean engine is a happy engine. Adding covers just masks the dirt and grime and oil that's hiding under your cover stay hidden and fall victim to 'out of site, out of mind' and the motor never gets cleaned.

Can anyone give me an answer that's NOT "because this is what we [don't] do"?

I WILL be doing EXTENSIVE work in this arena to my 2015 S3 8V - much like the S4 is in this thread. I have NO shame in my game, and I can't wait to show it off!
