do you have air ride? or an allroad? have you deleted your airbags yet? its a common thing to do. that makes the control buttons on the center console useless.

O I left my air ride. But yes, you can delete it and put a cup holder there or something. or like I did, I deleted my cup holder and in its place I put more buttons to control my exhaust cutouts. The slot there can be filled with any buttons for the most part...

I went with passive wastegate activated cutouts on my set up, much more reliable set up vs electrics which fail due to heat and water fairly quick.

Yes that is the much better way to do it. Live and learn. I went with the DMH brand and have had to rebuild them 4 times. But they are solid after rebuild. I also keep them lubricated with pb blaster. Have had them for 2 years now. I learned the trick is to not use them too much either haha. I moved them behind the rear resonator so they no longer get the extreme abuse of the hot downpipe exhaust and they have more reliable.

I rarely use them unless I am blasting the car. If I were to do it again I would do vacuum activated like you

Get facelift C5 button panel, for cars without power rear sunshade there will be two convenient blanks. I think the ESP button might be a different shape between A6 and allroad due to suspension controls being wider than the two A6 blanks. But I don't know that for fact.

    Thanks for the verification!

Pre-facelift (non soft touch) didn't even have ESP switch, right? Just coin tray, or coin tray is where facelift cup holder is and cupholder in place of button array, yes?

I can not verify that. I know on my 99 c5 2.8 it had credit card slot and it had cup holder. I think the 4.2 had esp however and maybe 2.7 also

C6 ESP switch (same exact electrical connection) relocated to center console. I just extended the wires- then added 2nd cupholder where this was.

Here is what I did. Right cup holder was deleted. I added the 4.2 soft touch buttons on that side. The ESP button on the right activates my cutouts with a single push. I have a forum diy on this btw. The window visor button "seals" the cutouts more closed if they ever rattle with a special circuit I built also.

Blank button will be used eventually. Eventually I want to get the buttons replaced with ones that represent the function but they are 35 euros each from the company who makes them...

Yes-- dash is symmetrical so cupholder fit both sides easy! And yeah..that bottom part of the NAGrivation controller was just a blank spot so I trimmed it to fit the C6 ESP button. Extended the wires and shazam. Boom! OR whatever... NAV is functional. It is very helpful at pointing you to an area roughly near a destination if you need to get there in 2003.
On non-Allroads that left side console button thing is a waste of space. What do you have? ESP and on a deluxe car a rear-sunshade button? Lame.

Thats rad tahoe. I also hate button blanks, makes you feel like your car isn't as good as it could be. Had an A6 S-line with everything and it KILLED me that the furthest right button on the left side was blank. Loved the rear sunshade though, so cool.

Fun fact: Volvo's button blanks can actually be pressed. Like they're not solid immovable slabs, they're spring loaded just like real buttons. I adore that totally useless fact.

My furthest right button is also nonfunctional, but it has been replaced with a working button that says "funk" on it.... Apparently it was used to disable radios or something. I have not wired it to anything yet but the possibilities are endless. I think ecs sells them.
