    Clutch kit for 500ps

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This has probably been done loads but I'm based in the uk and would like to know what cost effective clutch kits you guys are using for a b5 s4 running approx 500ps.

I'm selling the car so don't want to spend mega money but want something that would had that sort of power. Any ideas and the best places/links to where I should go?

Over here clutch kits seem to be ridiculously expensive

Clutch masters fx400 seems to be legit. Mine is coming in next week, so I don't know what it will hold but from what I've read it holds many stage 3+ cars with out issue and mine was $750usd

Running an rs4 pp with clutchnet disk here. Holds great, and I have done a couple launches using launch control at 4200rpm.

CM fx400 would hold, but major drawbacks in driveabilty and longevity.

On a budget, I would say b7rs4 repset and ttv fw for it. I think would be ~$600 over here.

If you plan on beating the piss out of it or antilag, good cheap options are going to be tough to find.
Maybe toss a ceramic disk from clutchnet in for +$150ish.

Just for clarification, are you talking wheel PS, or some voodoo crank PS?
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

GTFO with those Ouija board conjured fw ps numbers

TTV for fw, and where ever for the b7rs4 luk repset. ~$600 for everything.
Looks like $450 and $150 over here. Kinda would think less for you being that they are made over there, but who knows.

It really depends on how you drive.

If you drive like a sane person, they handle quite a bit.
If you are into antilag, launching, and full throttle shifting, Id want at least more durable disk. But this comes with a heavy tax on driveabilty.

Amd stg3+ is prob the most awful clutch I have ever driven. Seriously. You could drive it back to back with a cm fx400 and not be able to tell the difference.
Well, maybe you could. The guy with the fx400 will only have to suffer for a year or two before he has an excuse to put something more driveable in

So would the RS4 be what you recommend for 400-450whp, daily driven (like a sane person), no flat shifting, no antilag, and maybe a launch or two every once in a while?

What would you recommend as a more durable disk?

I think (as in my best guess) you would be good, but are right on the border line.
People have done similar in days gone by with the b5rs4 clutch. Some got away with it, some didnt.

Not many people sell the disks separately, most want you to buy the whole kit and kaboodle. Clutchnet seems to be a popular option.

I wouldn't launch at all on the stock s4/rs4 disk.

Again, clutchnet here, and I don't expect it to last long. I've put 10k on it with 2 4200rpm antilag launches and it holds excellent. Engagement is tricky at times and I try to slip it as little as possible.

That said, the 10k is mostly highway 100+ miles a day, and I don't use NLS. I also don't shift quickly, I just let the power do the work.

You have b5 or b7 pp?
The sac should help a ton with squeezing extra miles out of it. Def be interesting to see how much.

B5 rs4 pp. Used up a good bit of the adjustment the first time I pressed down the pedal, only can't back up half way.

I will definitely update when it gives up.

That might actually be quite a bit of usable life used on the first adjustment.

Oem disks start out ~12mm, and guessing ~10mm with the marcels compressed.
Most aftermarket disks I have seen were ~8mm.
2mm is a ton of miles. Like more miles than a brand new fx400.

Yea I wish I had taken measurements. Should have read "only came back up half way.". I actually panicked for a second before coming to my senses and considering the SAC mechanism. Pulled the pedal up and it was fine after.

I got the aasco aluminum fw, pp, and disk off a member here for a pretty good price. Tried to get an AMD disk but as mentioned earlier, no one would just sell the disk.

Next time around I plan on going AMD with a steel flywheel. Not to say I'm not happy with my current setup, the price was right and it holds the power great. I'm actually curious just how much it can hold. My best FATS so far is 2.95, and it shows no signs of slippage.
